We are planning a 3-week trip to Turkey later this Fall. We
don't like to move too quickly, we'd like to spend at least
a few days at each destination.
Understanding that Instanbul could easily take weeks on its
own, but that we only have thre weeks, would it be realistic
to try to got to Instanbul, Ephesus and Cappodocia, with a
brief trip on the Turquoise Coast? What shoud we eliminate,
if need be? What should we add?
Thanks for any input.

  1. Istanbul -- at least 6 days Added by: Marjorie (Trudimarj@aol.com)

I just returned from Istanbul and spent 4 days there. Although I got to see most sites I definitely could have done 2 more days if not more. It is a wonderful city, lots to see and do. Suggest staying in the Sultanahme area. Easy to get around by foot. I haven't been to the other destinations but would certainly encourage you to spend enough time in Istanbul. Feel free to email me if you have any questions about Istanbul.

You should stay at least 5 days in ▌stanbul. It is a great
place to see.I wouldnt recomend you to stay in the
sulatanahmet area;it is the most expensive part of ▌stanbul
for tourists. There are plenty places to see in Turkey but
if you have 3 weeks you must go to ephesus and
cappodocia. You can easily go both of them with busses or
flights.Turkey is so cheap nowadays.I am living in
Turkey. If you want more info about anywhere else just write
    to me.

... that the Sultanahmet area is expensive relative to other areas in Old Istabul. It depends on what is important to you. Being able to get around on foot to see the main sites was important for me so that location made sense. There are lots of options. The Lonely Planet guide on Istanbul is a good resource for hotel options.
