We will be spending two or three days in Cappadocia, ten
days from now. Any advice as to what to see/experience,
and how to travel around - e.g. rented car, hired cab.
Thanks.

  1. Odd place that Added by: John Banbury (J.O.M.Banbury@durham .ac.uk)

Personaly I didn't like it all that much, stuffed with
Japanese Tourists. It's worth seing but any more than 3
days and you'd get bored. The citadell's pretty good and
the underground city is a great escape from the heat, but
don't bother with the open air museum, you can find better
examples in the surrounding fields. I went arround on my
own motorbike which was great, but you can hire mopeds there
too. Watch out for the madman on his ZZR1100. I've
forgotten the name of the internet cafe there, but you get
half an hour free with a beer, the wireing looked a bit
    dodgy.
    Best of luck
    John

  2. Three days is enough Added by: Vagrant (vagrant1@concentric.net)

Cappadocia is good for three days - if you have a car.
Without one you're not liable to see much.
There is lots of great stuff to see and do there. E-mail
me and I'll tell you all about it.

  3. We loved the place Added by: Rebecca

We thought Cappadocia was great. We spent a whole day just
climbing through fairy chimneys. Yes it is quite
commercialised but if you have been travelling for a while
its quite nice to take a tour for a day or two and just let
someone drive you around. There are heaps of different tour
companies and they are all pretty much the same. You want to
do the trip that takes you to the underground city and avoid
the ones where you end up stuck in a carpet shop or pottery
    place for hours.

I strongly recommend walking in the area, f.i. from Uchisar
onwards, there are several nice walks. Have a look at my
cappadocia website for more detailed info
