Have you experiences about work in kibbutz or moshaw? I
would like to hear from you. I will appreciate any specific
information, how was it difficult, about living there,
which places are best etc. Adresses for kibbutz and
moshawes will be welcomed. Thanks

i volunteered at kibbutz yotvata in the negev desert,
mainly b/c a friend was already there. i was prepared to
live off the earth, work the land, and the like but was
pleasantly surprised and a little disappointed when the
kibbutz turned out to be very modern with its own vey large
swimming pool, school, gym, clinic, cinema, disco and bar.
the accomdations was very clean and pretty spacious. one of
the richer kibbutzes in israel. has lots of young soldiers
(gurin) sp? and students (ulpan). work included dairy,
farm, kitchen etc. i got paid 280 shekels per month. you
can hitchhike to eilat, the tackiest and cheesiest place on
the red sea coast which is 1/2 hour away. also very close
to the borders of jordan (petra, wadi rum) and the sinai
(dahab and tarabin). gets extremely hot. best of luck.
I worked on 2 kibbutzs a few years a go, one was great the
other was terrible. make sure you asked what work you will
do, if they have a factory give it a miss beacuse you will
end up there. I've meet quite a few people who worked on
Moshaws and they said it was quite bad. You have to pay and
cook your own food, and often there are just 1 or 2 other
volnteers the working hours at longer too.sorry this is
short but I have to go to an exam in 5 mins, if you send me
an e-mail I can give you some more information.
I volunteered in a kibbutz called Dalia. I didn't like it
because it was in the middle of nowhere (very hard to get to
any town...almost no buses), and the area was not attractive
at all. But I visited some other kibbutim which were
beautiful. One on the coast near Tel-Aviv called Shefayim
was really amazing, another one called Nahsholim (on the
coast near Haifa) was also really nice. There are some
really good kibbutzim, but I ended up with a shitty one and
next time I'll research more before choosing one. Another
one to consider is Ma'abarot, they have a website with info
on how to become a volunteer:
http://www.maabarot.org.il
Ma'abarot is close to Netanya
I would not recommend working on a moshav, because it's
really hard work and it gives you no chance to travel at
all.
