Do you have any recommendations what places to stay at i Tel
Aviv, Jerusalem, Eilat, Petra and Cairo? I'm looking for
cheap hotels where I can meet other backbackers. I'll be
travelling alone, so I want to meet other travellers to hook
up with for parts of the trip.

The best place for backpackers in Jerusalem is the Tabasco
hotel in the old city. You will meet all sorts of people.
The staff is insane, but a pleasant insanity. Up the street
is al Arab hostel, a place to be avoided at all costs. The
staff believes that they can rectify Palestinian injustices
by physically abusing & spitting on their guests. I was not
really happy with the backpacker facilities in the other
places you mentioned. have fun. bob

A good backpack place in Tel Aviv is the Greenhouse on
Dizengov St. It's very central and a great place to hang
out.Enjoy your trip. A great club is Allenby 64 (I think
thats the right no.) on Allenby St. central T.A.There's a
    good bar opposite.
