    Hi Kate,
I know a friend who would like to give his apartment. He
lives at Taksim.(Sorry I don't know if you know Istanbul
already. Taksim is the most popular area at Istanbul.)
I suppose he would like to go to South Turkey for the
    summer season.
If you are interested in I can definetly ask him about the
    rent and other conditions.
    Bye,
    Ayna

  2. Sultanahmet Guest House? Added by: Richard B

I stayed at the Kervan Guest House B&B in Sultanahmet, the
historic "old Istanbul" district. It has 5 rooms, friendly
staff, terrific views, remodeled a couple of years ago, and
best of all, an ideal location on top of the Byzantine
Cistern. We paid $35/night for a double.

    Hi Kate,
I would suggest the Side Hotel and Pension. I was just
there a week ago. They have a number of options depending
on how much you want to spend. You can get a single with the
bathroom down the hall for not much more than you would pay
in a hostel. It is right down the street from the Four
Season's and has a great view of the Blue Mosque, Aya Sofia
and the Sea of Marmara from the roof top dining area. I
miss talking to fellow travelers over tea in their sitting
area. They have CNN and you can make tea when you want.
Levent the day manager and Murat the night manager are very
friendly and helpful. It wasn't totally booked right now,
but they also have fax and email. Sorry I don't have their
card with me, but you can look it up in LP. If you do go,
    tell them I said "hi".
I envy you as I wish I was back in Turkey right now.

    Kate
You might also consider the Sah Konak, also not far from the
    4 Seasons. I stayed there last week - $US22 for a single,
$30 twin inc breakfast, spotless private bathrooms, minibar,
TV with CNN in the rooms. Helpful staff (I left my big pack
with them while I went off on a short trip). Prices may
increase as the season advances. Tel (+90 212) 638 2608
    Fax (+90 212) 458 1829. It's in Bayramfirini Sokak, off
    Akbiyik Sokak, Sultanahmet.
