I have a 2.5 year old daughter. Shes georgous and very
socialable. I have never travelled overseas before and am
concerned of my daughters safety. We`re from Australia and
are heading to New Zealand for a few months. I am used to a
very easy going atmosphere around here, my daughter will
talk to anyone, and I had no troubles.
How much can I trust the Kiwi`s?
And what activities does NZ (Hamilton) cater for smaller
children?

I have a 6year old child whom I moved from London to N.Z.
with 3 years ago.We have now moved back to London much to
my dauthers dismay She love N.Z. and I fell she was very
safe there.Unlike london if I lost sight of her for a
second I didn't rush about in a flap, she never had any
problems and only made tons of friends. The kiwi kids are
laid bake and confident, there is space, light and air for
all in N.Z. and this shows in peoples manner. I am
confident that you will have a beautiful time there.
    Good luck

You should relax lady. My goodness, of course you can
"trust the Kiwi's"!!!!! Are you for real lady????
I thought you were going to write that you'll be going to
the Amazon Jungle or Kosovo. A little too paranoid??????
    Hummmmmmmmmmmmmm!

Responding to the Aussie wondering if the Kiwi's were
safe...I'm a single American woman who recently spent 3
months touring New Zealand and 9 months touring Australia
alone. No problems in either country. If any difference
at all, the Kiwi's seemed a tad bit friendlier. Doubt that
you'll have any problems. Have a great trip.

Your worry is understandable,i assume that you are alone
and have taken on the responsibility of chid rearing by
yourself.Sanger and Kelly in their book The woman who works
the parent who cares" tells us,'isolation poses risks for a
single parent and one of these is isolation. This can happen
because you try to be all things to your
child .mother ,father confidante taskmaster, think of
travel as just a change to routine and you should be fine.
