I'm a single mum planning to take my daughter to Ko Phi Phi
in October - is this time of year too wet? I keep reading
conflicting reports. Also, is it best to stay near Tonsai
bay or elsewhere on the island? I'm not too keen on staying
where it's overcrowded, so I would appreciate any
suggestions. Also what are the options for getting around
on the island? Thanks

  1. It may rain... Added by: Joannah

I went to the Phi Phi Islands long before your daughter was
born so I'm not up-to-date concerning accomodations and
things like that. I think there might be a risk it's quite
crowded now. There are a lot of islands around which might
be a better choise. Anyway I was there in October and it
was HOT but sometimes clouds came by and sometimes a short
rain. We only found that refreshing as it soon cleared up
and the sand got dry in no time. Of course it could be more
or less rainy but I doubt that would be a major problem.

  2. Recent-ish visit Added by: Alison

We visited Phi Phi in October 1996 and it certainly wasn't
over crowded. We stayed in the Phi Phi Princess resort
which is right on the beach about a 5 minute walk from the
ferry. The accomodation was in wooden chalets on the beach
and we loved it. It rained a couple of times (it is the
rainiy season in October) but it was welcome relief. We
found it to be a really friendly place with as little or as
much as you want to do. Go and have fun!
