We are arriving in Cancun 7/1 and will be there 9 nights.
I do not want to stay at large resort-y places or gringo
meccas or partyvilles (no Cancun , Isla Mujeres, Cozumel,
or Playa del Carmen).
What beach towns can we stay at that are safe, quiet, super-
cheap (lodging under $45 a night for my kidder and me),
have tranquil surf and easily accessible by bus or
collectivo? We are not gonna rent a car and I do speak a
little Spanish.
I'd appreciate any suggestions for good cheap beaches,
accomodations, transportation, etc.
So far, I am most interested in Tulum, but am also
considering Tankah... I think Akumal is too "yuppy" for
us. Xpuha sounded absolutely perfect until I heard they
are building 2 huge resorts there (ugggggh!).
I do not mind staying in cabanas or having to share a
bathroom or a kitchen or cooking area- just want our
sleeping quarters to be super-quiet, private and safe.
Also we are TERRIFIED of bugs! I do like the cute lil
lizards, though!
thanks!
nancy

Does anyone know of the location on the Web of a
salary calculator in NZ dollars, where you put in how
much you earn, when you want to travel and it outputs
how much you need to save each week to do it???
