Queensland holiday

Looking for suggestions for a good place to take a one year
old for a week or two in Queensland. My husband and I have
frequent flyer points that we need to use so would need to
be somewhere that Qantas flies to. We like snorkelling and
rainforests. We are also interested in quiet,
friendly accommodation - not too budget but probably not
resort-priced either.
.
Btw, we live in Sydney but have lived and travelled all over
NSW, ACT and Vic and are happy to provide info to anyone
travelling in those areas.

Cairns is a great destination if you like snorkelling and
rainforests. Cairns itself isn't that flash but I would
suggest being based there and doing day trips. Car hire is
really cheap (from$25/day)and a must if you want to see all
the top spots. Mossman Gorge is my favourite place in the
whole world. Sparkling clear water to swim in and escape
from the hot humid weather. We spent nearly every day there
on our trip. Its worth spending a bit of time in Port
Douglas, a cute little town 60km north of Cairns (cheap food
at the pub). If you want to do a snorkelling trip make sure
its to the OUTER reef as this is where the best coral is.
Its well worth spending the extra money on a full day trip.
There are lots of great waterfalls all around the
Cairns/Port Douglas and hinterland area. Another fantastic
place is Josephine Falls, near Innisfail. Not to be missed.
You should be able to find some decent accomm in Cairns
fairly cheaply. Make sure it has at least a ceiling fan. We
stayed at a place called The Silver Palm, on the Esplanade
and I think it was about $30 for a double with share
bathroom and kitchen. Very quiet though but close enough to
walk to the centre of town.
Hope this is of some help.
    Happy travels,
    Suzie.
PS Qantas fly to Cairns as well.

Daydream Is.They have spent 20 mil. on upgrades and cater
for the kids market other wise club med,Lindeman.
If you worry about the kids the daycare and activities are
so good it seems it would be like a second honeymoon,
anyway Travel 4 kids is a travel agent at lane Cove.

Lord Howe Island. It's world heritage and the waters are
pristine. (No ocean outfall here) Its available on FF
tickets if you book early enough. Pinetrees lodge is a guest
house with all meals so it's a complete break for you or
you can stay in apartments. I know its not in QLD but some
    people don't know its there.
In Queensland the best holiday for a toddler is Noosa.
Stay in Hasting Street right on the beach, so when baby
sleeps you can admire the view.
