Cant answer for all of your locations - unfortunately.
The Y at Hamstead Heath in London has great family rooms at
a fairly reasonable price - including a substantial
breakfast (essential considering the huge prices of food in
London).
In France we stayed in the Formula 1's - absolute budget
accom but clean and comfortable if not a little sterile.
In Switzerland the Villa Sonnenhof in Interlaken has great
family rooms also - (if you get to Interlaken).
Our children are older but we still preferred them to be in
a family room with us. Have a nice trip!
No suggestions but hoping you will pass on your know-how! I
am hoping to do the same, travel across Europe using a
europass, but I don't know where to begin. I am a single mum
with an 11-year old planning a trip on her own for the first
time and not a great deal of travel experience. I live in
the middle-east and would like to know about how to get a
europass, multiple visas(is it SENGEN countries or EU?,
which country to start in, whether its best to book or
whether one can risk taking it as it comes. I will be
travelling in the last week of June to 20th July.
Last month 3 of us, including my 6 year old son, stayed at
the Hostal Cervelo in Madrid for about $51 per night. This
gave us 2 single beds, 1 double bed, and our own private
clean bathroom. This family owns 2 hostals in the same
building, Hostal Cervelo and Hostal Martin,
http://www.hostalmartin.com/. They speak English and
communicate very well via e-mail.
The hostal was located within walking distance of the Puerta
del Sol, Plaza Mayor, the Prado museum, places to eat, etc.
This is a no frills hostal but we felt safe and I could not
have asked for a better location. The owners also set us up
with a taxi driver they knew and trusted to take us to
Segovia for a day ($125). The taxi cost less than 3 of us
paying for a tour. (BTW, I am sure your children would
enjoy seeing the lovely Alcazar of Segovia)
We just returned from London where we stayed at The London
Crown Hotel for $88 per night for 2 of us in a double bed
and included breakfast. This hotel is located right across
the street from the Paddington underground and train
station. I do not extol this hotel, but the location was
excellent. http://www.bookings.org/uk/html/30020.html
I strongly recommend the book: Kids' London by Francesca
Collin. My son thoroughly enjoyed London because of
suggestions in this book.
Have a great trip.
