Hi, my best friend and I (two single mums) are heading of with out 3 kids 9 - 11 in July next year. We have our schedule basically planned, (we found a good 7 day safari with Roys Safaris and 4 days in Zanzibar including airfares and accomodation for $1295 p.p adult and 800p.p child) We are looking for some good cheap accomodation for 1 night in Nairobi, 1 night in Arusha and 1 night in Dar es Salaam, we don't care if it is a bit rustic (max $25 p.p/night) also so looking for decent accomodation in Avignon, Turin, Rome (near pantheon), Lyon, Dijon, Chamonix and Paris (is 13 days enough to drive from Rome to Paris excluding stays in those two places. Also does anyone know a way to do Disneyworld cheap (accomodation wise). And can anyone recommend a good reasonable baby sitting service in San Francisco, New York and New Orleans.
Like I said, just the little things. If anyone would like any detail of the safari, feel free to email me.
Regards

My husband and I took our boys, 10 and 11 at the time, to
Europe in '97. We used Rick Steves' Europe Through the
Back Door hotel recommendations and were not disappointed
anywhere. In some we were not able to share a room, but we
felt safe enough to let them stay next door alone. In
Varenna, Italy, (Hotel Albergo) we were only able to get
rooms on different floors so my husband and I split up,
each sleeping with one child. This was only a minor
inconvenience in an otherwise wonderful stay with a most
gracious hostess Laura. I highly recommend Rick's
    recommendations.
We are going to Greece this summer with our boys, now 12
and 13, and would appreciate any ideas anyone has to
    share. Thanks.

  2. how about Austria? Added by: Heidi Bammer (treehousehotel@hotmail.com)

It sounds like quite the itinerary! If you need a break after all that running around, why not consider coming to see us in Austria and enjoy some fresh air after Rome. I run a backpacker hotel in Upper Austria, about an hour out of Salzburg. I also have two boys ages 3 & 5 and know what its like to travel with them. Its a lot of fun AND its a lot of work on your part. We needed a few days just to chill out when we traveled to remind ourselves it is a vaction afterall.
I have bikes here at my house, horseback riding, hiking, tennis all kinds of things to do (or not to do if you prefer!)
If you would like more information, please write or call. e-mail: treehousehotel@hotmail.com or Ph: 43 7616 8499 Fax; 43 7616 8599. I hope you have a great trip. All the best,
