[Timestamp: Sat 24 April, 2:01 Tasmanian Standard Time]

Bangalore? Pah! You might as well be in Milton Keynes (all
you non-Brits who've never heard of MK... well you wouldn't
get the ironic sense of humour so I won't bother
explaining). No, it's got to be Connaught Place, new Delhi,
5pm on a Monday in May. Luverly.

  8. tiruphati the best Added by: danou

  9. Cochin Added by: Gerald
[Timestamp: Sat 24 April, 2:24 Tasmanian Standard Time]

I am voting for Cochin. Great city with a lot of sights,
    nice people and no cars.

  10. PAYYANUR Added by: Kawamura (latef@yahoo.com)
[Timestamp: Sat 24 April, 4:04 Tasmanian Standard Time]

Payyanur is is Most wonderful city in India.

  11. Varanasi and Udaipur Added by: Michael
[Timestamp: Sat 24 April, 4:16 Tasmanian Standard Time]

Varanasi is the most interesting and Udaipur is the most
manageable of the cities in India I've been to. Also
Aurangabad for its proximity to Ellora and Ajanta. While
we're at it, the least interesting city has got to be
Jaipur with its overrated Palace of the Winds.

  12. Bundi Added by: Musafir
[Timestamp: Sat 24 April, 5:17 Tasmanian Standard Time]

I quite liked Bundi, north of Kota in Rajasthan.
Provincial town, hardly touristic (in '96 anyway), beautiful
setting with a palace and fort overlooking a lake,
    hospitable people.
Also I remember very well the Shekawati-area with its dozens
    of deserted decorated mansions.
I would place Bangalore last on my list, but fortunately
there are still people who like places like that, so the
really nice ones don't get too overcrowded ;-).

  15. Calcutta Added by: rich
[Timestamp: Mon 26 April, 15:59 Tasmanian Standard Time]

Calcutta is the friendliest of the major cities by a long
shot. Even the beggars seem polite after the grasping con
artists of Delhi. Mumbai is second best - its a mess but it
does have a buzz to it. Chennai is rather dull.

  16. CALCUTTA Added by: ms
[Timestamp: Mon 26 April, 18:45 Tasmanian Standard Time]

    Calcutta ! ! !

  17. Mumbai Added by: Paul
[Timestamp: Tue 27 April, 10:57 Tasmanian Standard Time]

Bombay is the only choice. It is the most fun, with the
best parties and shopping and the Sea Lounge.

  18. Mumbai Added by: bhAi-giri (abhitam@bigfoot.com)
[Timestamp: Sat 1 May, 6:14 Tasmanian Standard Time]

yeah, if one wants to see India in one city, it's here!
but remember the rules of the debate?(set by anboy)
when it comes to crimes, Mumbai gets out of the discussion

  19. I've seen it all! Added by: concerned/localman
[Timestamp: Sun 2 May, 22:26 Tasmanian Standard Time]

Been here (all my life) done that (travelled to all Indian
CITIES). the best city to go to is Cochin! & im not a
    Malayalee!!

  20. ... !! ..... Added by: loize
[Timestamp: Wed 5 May, 0:20 Tasmanian Standard Time]

    mahabalipuhram , manali and delhi

  21. calcutta Added by: ganesh (ganesh92@hotmail.com)
[Timestamp: Fri 7 May, 21:00 Tasmanian Standard Time]

of the megapolis, calcuttas superb.very very friendly. bombays also very interesting, try to get away from colaba, once outside the city the real indian bombay comes alive, and its well worth spending a few days there even though its quite expensive.delhi is delhi, loads of history and loads of ripoffartists, but still well worth it. varanasi, hey, weeks rather than days. cochin also well worth weeks, but stay in ernakulam cos fort cochin is quite boring in the evenings.madras is quite boring. a couple of days should be enough.bangalore, give it a big miss. nothing to see or do unless you like cybercafes, fastfoodjoints and shoppingmalls and pubculture.jaipur is ok for a few days, but there are more interesting places in rajasthan. pushkar, jaisalmer, jodhpur, udaipur etc etc.and then, welll, daramshala, manali, manikaran, gokarn, colva, benaulim, palolem, anjuna, arambol, kovalam, loads of smaller places, maybe not cities, but still great. give agra a big miss. or take an early train from delhi, see the taj, and move on....btw delhi is actually quite fab, dont know why so many hate the place. just try to stay outside of paharganj, plenty of ok budget options in old delhi

  22. Rishikesh and Dharamsala Added by: Kiko
[Timestamp: Mon 10 May, 7:15 Tasmanian Standard Time]

I had vacation from the extreme chaos of wackiness in
Rishikesh and Dharamsala. In the land of the mountains
remain mellow Indian people who leave you alone and enjoy
the true magic and spirit of the area. Great food, great
people, and every travel day had 20 stories within
themselves. Varanasi comes next as just incredible
instense and electrifying experience in India.

  23. hmm... Added by: Char
[Timestamp: Tue 18 May, 4:24 Tasmanian Standard Time]

Mumbai for its vibrance, Dharamshala for its sense of
    complete peace.
