It is concievable that you may be asked to produce a tax
form prior to our departure, but it is highly unlikely.
It is relatively painless to get one - but I only know how
in Varanasi - I would say worry about it only if you have
    nothing else to worry about!

    Hi,
Such a document is only required if you stay more than 6
months in India, and even then you it is unlikely that
customs or god-knows-who will ask you to come up with this
sheet of paper. If worst comes to worst, tell about your
trips and activities in India: it'll soon be clear that you
will not have been working when travelling in the country
Enjoy and do not worry too much: India is fascinating,
frustrating sometimes, but things are seldom as bad as they
    seem.
    Rgds, Johan

I stayed for five months in Delhi and was not asked for one
at the airport. I am sure you will be fine..

I stayed over a year, and got the certificate, that is very
easy, and they didn┤t ask for it when I left.
