Nothing can beat it. I'd go back in a second!
It's the best! You can't beat Mt. Everest and the
Annapurnas. I'd walk there if I could!!
Been to India lots of times, been ripped off and molested
innumeralbe times. So it must be a great country to still
be my favourite after nearly giving me a nervous
breakdown!!!
I used to think that India was and is the best and worst
country in the world. Now I know worse places. So . . .
Thailand and Nepal are close seconds due to their variety
and comfort levels. Laos is a best small poor country. The
US is the best rich country.
SINGAPORE for sterility !!!!
.....................
I think it has to be SL -- though Thailand's always very
easy going, and Turkey is somewhere I've returned several
times & never fail to be impressed with the hospitality of
the people, especially in the centre & the Black Sea Coast.
I'd add a vote to Gary's comment on Laos -- and if it's
good food you're after give me Italy or France anytime!
It all depends for what.

It has to be Oman - Muscat is just so beautiful, and Oman
is one of the few truly 'untouched by sad tourism'
countries left in the world.
India does it for me each time.
Thailand!!!!!
People are not so friendly in any other country than in Thailand!!
Having been to 6 continents and more than 50 countries, the
most interesting places I've visited, in descending order
are India, Indonesia, China, Chile, Italy, Turkey, Nepal,
Thailand and New York City.
Absolutely no question about it.
Apart from India...Bhutan is the place...
It's beautiful, clean, kind, you can drink the water, you
don't have to watch your feet and they look after their
people.
Blighty does it for me every time!!!
god's own country
for culture, amazing sights and wonderful friendly people:
India, with Turkey and Indonesia in a photo finish for
second. But for living, eating, breathing and hanging out
with a laid back group of people, it's Australia,
...no contest!
who has more variety in the whole wide world apart from
india???????
For me it has been Burma and Laos. When I visited them they were almost untouched by dirty materialism, no scams, beggars, hawkers and everybody was just extremely friendly.
For less tourists, amazing sights and the worlds best
hospitality visit Jordan & Syria.
My wife & I have travelled all over Asia & the Middle East
and these were the friendliest people we met. Even as
friendly as Nepalis or Hill people around Kulu!
northern pak in november
Because it is the chaos from which Life is churned out in
all its glorious variety. India, because it knows how to
celebrate both enlightenment and darkness. India, because it
has all the beginnings without end. India, because there you
will find you belong, somehow, somewhere, whoever you are
and wherever you came from. India, because it is heaven and
hell together, in one earthy mixture.
India
That's beautiful and absolutely spot on.
Thanx Billy
Just said what I've felt for 20 years.
NEPAL....NEPAL......NEPAL.......NEPAL......NEPAL!!!!!
How come you're all so decisive? I've always thought the
beauty of travel is it's freedom and the excuse that
provides for not having to form fixed opinions about
anything. And yet here you are so set in your ways, so sure
of your convictions, to the point where you can actually
name a particular country. Haven't you all fallen foul of
the reasons you sought to escape in the first place?
And exactly how do you pick from the endless list of
possibilities? The place other places remind you of
most? By that score I've seen Scotland in Tibet, in India,
in Malawi, in Chile and in Alaska. Not that I'm looking to
be reminded, and in any case Scotland's not far enough away
for me. Although by that criteria, exotica is entirely
dependent on where you live at a particular point in time.
So to be fair to everywhere, surely the best country in the
world is the one you're going to visit next. At least you
can always hope it will be. In my case I've yet to decide
where that is, but that doesn't stop me imagining that it
is. And even if that be so, I'll still unintentionally end
up comparing it to somewhere else, until I move on to the
next country, whereupon the previous one will become the
compared. And so it goes...
CANADA... CANADA... CANADA... CANADA... CANADA...CANADA... CANADA... CANADA...
I've gotta say that Zimbabwe is a pretty cool place.
?????????????????????????????????????????
i have absolutely NO words.
have ANY OF YOU been to vietnam?????????????????
Whats the best and worst meals you ever had in India?
My best veg meal, was palak paneer at the Maharaja Restaurant in Madras, best non-veg was possibly some kabab rolls at the new market in Calcutta. Worst veg was the so-called Rajasthani pizzas in Udaipur ( and pizzas all over Rajasthan), and worst non-veg is chicken everywhere. Worst of all though , must be the dhaba breakfast up in Himachal which gave me dysenteria.
The native Fijiians with their laughter and bright look
at life make Fijii one of my favourite places. Maybe it is
because the Indians in Fijii are the most surly Indians in
the world and underline the contrast. Not at all like the
friendly Indians we just met in the South of India.
India?? Yeah, everything is dirt cheap, but money doesn't
rule my life (I like to kid myself), so the obvious choice
is: BRAZIL! The people are just outrageous (Worries? Nothing
a dose of sex, drugs and carnaval won't fix!), Rio is the
most beautiful city in the world, the beaches, the music (in
Bahia anyway)....
H
Birmingham is the one. Fuck India, its toss.
Australia- there are no peers
How people can be positive after being through so much.
THE MAJORITY of them IS INDIA
SO INDIA WON THIS GALLOP POLL
LOVE NEPAL!!ABSOLUTLY THE BEST!!!!!!!and i think Greece is
the second best!!!But Nepal OH Nepal!!
CUBA
The people are some of the friendliest I've ever met.
The weather is great, the countryside is beautiful, the
music is wonderful & the rum is cheap!
Everything you need on a cool vacation!
I did not travel a lot...but the best place was "morocco"!!
Having lived in Nepal, their is no other place!
Before you judge go there yourself
Nepal.....go there before anywhere else
It will surprise you, thrill you and change you
Having lived in Nepal, their is no other place!
Before you judge go there yourself
nobody was talking about the belgium food...
Cambodia is simply great!
I've been all over south and southeast asia. Love the food
and always have a nice time in southeast asia but Vietnam
was my best. Every meal is a thrill, a reason to get out of
bed and hit the streets. If you dont like seafood you'll be
miserable, tho.
PAKISTAN (northern parts)
..........Ireland for everything
Barry if cold beef with mustard is your idea of a good meal
and the Queen does it for you than you deserve Birmingham.
It takes a little more depth to appreciate and enjoy India.
Well, it's between Nepal and Burma. Guess I'd choose Nepal
if it came to a flat-out either/or none. But here's my rule
of thumb for westerners traveling in the East:
Best countries are Buddhist.
Second best are Hindu.
Third best are Moslem. (Unless you're really fond of the
12th century.)
Just my prejudice of course; based on more than a fair
share of knocking about east of Suez.
syria!!! arab hospitality at it's finest....
has it all.
