Gay Cruise

I've been looking at a gay cruise that is being offered
through a gay travel agency in Canada. It's for a sailing
on Carnival Destiny from November 7 - 14, 1999 from Miami.
Has anyone had experience with either this ship or gay
cruises (mixed straight and gay cruise). Also, is anyone
here booked for the cruise? I'd like to meet up with some
travellers before going.

Be careful of what you're paying for. It's been my
experience that prices offered to gay travellers (out of
Canada) by gay agents for gay trips are way over priced.
An example. Last November I went to Mexico for 18 day (air
and hotel $1,200) from the west coast. A Vancouver agency
was offering a "gay" trip at the same time to the same city
    for 7 days ($1,500).
Also, it's been my experience that Gay agents only sell
very posh places (B&B's in the $150/night range, as an
    example).
You need to do your research.
And to all you agents out there, please don't yell at me.
I know you are only doing your best. I'm just suggesting
that the buyer beware of what is a "good deal".

i've had it described to me by a friend as a 'gay tax.' any package holiday will cost you hugely more if you take one of the cruises or vacations marketed as 'gay' relative to the exact same place one week before or after in an environment that "may contain" straights. since even the so called gay weeks are not necessarily exclusive, why bother? just take your holiday when and where you feel like.
. the 'gay' cruises offered in the canadian market are made even more uncompetitive in price because they come from US agencies, are priced in USD and rarely include airfare. americans may be used to having to travel to the caribbean by way of chicago then miami then san juan; canadians have lots of access to nonstop charters anywhere. it's up to the customer to decide what's the best deal, but don't limit yourself to the so-called gay trips.
. i'll take the flak from whoever wants to dish it... don't worry dexter.
