  61. what does really mean homosexuality Added by: hasssan
[Timestamp: Sat 13 March, 12:12 Tasmanian Standard Time]

Hallo, IÆm very surprised to read the comments of the
Egyptian gay-men, it is a big problem to discuss this theme
in Egypt or in the Inter-net, as I think it is not a crime
to be a gay, but u must try to solve this problem with good
educated-religious people not with anyone, but when we talk
about the homosexuality, I think we must differentiate
between the sexual contacts and the only tendencies or the
pure feelings or the real love between two men, the anal
sex is forbidden in Islam, it is very clear in Koran.
IÆve read some interesting comments in the queer jihad home
page, maybe it could help you people to get the right
path. I will send the comment later. Thanks a lot.
    Subject: (no subject)
    Date: Tu, 16 Apr 1998 17:47:49 +0800
    Dear Sulayman X,
I am a gay too, and to the best of my knowledge and
    ability, I will
follow all the Islamic teachings wholeheartedly. Frankly
    speaking, I am
really concern with all the dilemmas, we the gays are
    facing. I also
symphatise with you, being cornered by surmount criticisms
    looted against
you. Just like you, being a gay is not my choice.
What I can remember is that, when I was small I like to
    play cooking,
growing flowers and stitching. I gave up these hobbies at
    the age of 13
when I went to a boarding school. I began to like good-
    looking male
seniors at that age. Till now I do not know how this
    feeling get into
me. I was born in the family of eight - 5 boys and 3 girls.
    I am the
middle one. I am the only gay in the family and till now
    nobody knows
that I am gay. I look like any other straight men, with 10%
    softness.
Being gay is a big taboo in my culture and I am glad that I
    manage to
get away with the hostility against gay. I am 34 years old
    and my mother
has been asking me when I will get married. My answer is
    that "I am
busy". All my brothers and sisters were married.
I do know that homosexuality is a sin in Islam. So far
    there is no two
ways about it. I am accepting it despite pain in my soul. I
    have never
engaged in any form of sexual activities and all my life I
    have been
    confined to celibacy.
I do know that this world is a prison for Muslims, what
    more for gay
people. And I do know that Allah knows what is best for me.
    Allah tests
us in many ways. Some are being tested with poverty,
    wealth, and blind; and
like us being gay. Allah wants to see us, despite being
    gay, are we
following His commandments or not. If we are the obedient
    servants of
Allah, He will shower us with bounties in the haven.
I do know that sex, to love and to be loved are basic
    rights for a human
being; but some other people such as the poor in other
    parts of the
world are also being deprived of modest living - no proper
    food,
clothing and housing. I am sure that Allah will compensate
    me for
whatever sacrifice I undertaking just to be an obedient
    servant of
Allah. I know that the state I am now needs a lot of iman
    and thus, I
joined Tabligi Jamaat in my country. In the Jamaat, we
    learn about the
sunnah and basic rituals of Islam. We visited our Muslim
    friends and
talk about life in the hereafter. Through this effort, my
    iman has been
rejunevating. Iman is a shield for me. The group members
    have never
teased, nor discriminating me. Whenever I am with the group
    I feel so
secured from the worldly temptations. I never missed my
    daily prayers
and always make an effort to wake up in the middle of the
    night. I will
cry before Allah, asking for his forgiveness and blessings.
    Now I am
    feeling the tranquility in life.
I believe that you are a western gay and in the western
    world, everyone
stands for his/her individual rights without realizing the
    limit to it.
To the best of my knowledge, the companions of Prophet
    Mohamed did not
champion for their rights. Instead, they gave away their
    rights to
others. The beauty in Islam, we Muslims must learn how to
    give away our
rights, not standing for our rights. Do not worry for being
discriminated because Allah is always with the believers.
My advice to you, Sulayman X, discusses your problems with
    Muslim
scholars. There are people who will listen to your agony.
    Do not say
something that is against Islam. Just like the companions
    of the prophet
"they listen and obey". Some of the things in Islam have no
    reason and
cannot be rationalized. Just obey. Allah loves you,
    Sulayman X.

Subject: A message for your visitors
    Date: Thu, 16 Apr 1998 17:38:58 -0400 (EDT)
Sulayman, this is a message addressing your visitors. It's
long but I would be very grateful if you would post it.
    Assalaamu-alaikum all.
I am a Muslim. I believe in the Oneness of Allaah. I
prostrate humbly before Him five times a day as He
commanded me to. I observe fast during Ramadaan as He
commanded me to. I give of my humble earnings as Zakaat to
the less fortunate as He commanded me to. Inshaa-Allaah, I
intend to perform Hajj one day as He commanded me to. I
believe in the Angels, the Revealed Books, the Prophets and
the Day of Reckoning. I do not consume alcohol, eat haraam
food, accept interest, gamble or fornicate. I do not smoke,
take drugs or do anything harmful to my health. I
constantly seek knowledge. I make a conscious effort not to
lie or backbite. I remember Allaah at all times and praise
Him and thank Him several times a day for His endless
bounties. I am soft-hearted, gentle and kind by nature and
I thank Allaah for giving me these qualities. I make du'ah
constantly for the weak, the poor, the old, the disabled,
the oppressed and the dispossessed. I invariably shed tears
in Sajdah as I feel closest to my beloved Lord in that most
humble of positions. Islaam is my life and I try to be a
good Muslim. Without Allaah, I am nothing.
I am gay. I have always been gay. I have been attracted to
boys ever since I can remember. I was too young to reflect
on this matter and say to myself: "Hmmm, should I be
attracted to boys or girls? Hey, why don't I give boys a
chance and see how I like it?" I didn't even know what
"gay" was. At that time, I still innocently assumed that I
would one day have a wife and kids when I grew up. However,
before the vague stirrings of adolescence even began to
awaken my sexuality, I already knew that girls held no
attraction for me. I never made a conscious choice. I just
knew. I thought it was a phase. It would pass as I grew
older. Instead it grew stronger. Allaah is my witness. It
was as if the choice had already been made for me. It was
as if I was fulfilling some pre-ordained plan. Acting out
    some pre-ordained role.
Allaah teaches us to have 'sabr' - forbearance and patience
in times of crisis. He also teaches us that He never gives
us a burden too heavy for us to bear. My homosexuality is
the cross I am to bear, one that I have not always borne
well - a burden that has taken me to the brink of suicide
on three occasions. To my brothers and sisters out there
who are quick to condemn me, please tell me: why would I
choose such a life of misery? Can you even begin to
understand the misery attached to this way of life for some
of us? Can you begin to understand the loneliness of the
homosexual condemned by the very faith he would die for?
Can you understand the despair, pain and suffering of
falling desperately in love with a non-gay knowing that he
would despise you if he knew how you felt? Do you know how
it feels to later lose the object of your love when he
finds out you are gay? Do you know how it feels? Do you? Do
you know what it's like to go to bed every night aching for
the love of someone who despises you? Aching just to see
his face, to hear his voice? Do you know what it's like to
wake up disappointed that you didn't die in your sleep and
to dread facing another day of heartache and emptiness? Do
you know what it's like to have a nervous breakdown, shake
uncontrollably and cry in public because life seems so
hopeless? Can you ever begin to understand the depth of
despair that would lead someone to take his own life? And
can you imagine what it's like to suffer all this silently,
with no advice or human comfort coming your way because you
are hiding a secret so shameful, you'd rather mentally and
emotionally bleed to death? Chances are you don't. And you
    presume to judge me?
Don't you know the statistics among the gay community for
teenage suicide? Why suicide? Why don't gays simply choose
to revert to heterosexuality? Hell, if we chose to become
gay, then we can JUST AS EASILY choose not to be, right? So
why suicide then? Think! Does someone with suicidal
tendencies sound like someone who feels he has a choice?
When death is the only way we see to end our suffering,
where is this choice you speak of? If we could easily and
willingly revert to a sex life without prejudice, a life of
happiness, companionship and acceptance, why would we
choose death over it or remain with the unhappiness
homosexuality offers? These are questions for the wise
among you to ponder. Had it not been for my faith in
Islaam, I would be dead already. And yet, death is more
preferable to me than forsaking Allaah. So don't tell me
    I'm not Muslim!
But some of you will say "die, scum, and good riddance".
But what if it were someone YOU love? A brother, a son, a
niece? Couldn't happen? Think again! Would you be so quick
to condemn, or would you then take the time to consider
what I've said? It's extremely important that you realize
that that shy, withdrawn teenager in your family may
actually be struggling with his or her homosexuality. Open
your eyes. You may unwittingly be alienating a loved one to
the point of desperation and suicide. Being Muslim does NOT
exclude being gay. I am both. I know. Are you so naive or
short-sighted as to think that just growing up in a Muslim
household is enough to prevent a child from being gay? My
parents are the two most honest, decent Muslims I know. Are
they to take the blame for me? I know personally of two
handsome young teenaged boys from strong Muslim backgrounds
who are struggling to accept the fact that they are gay.
There are no shortage of young ladies after them but
females simply don't interest them. And their guilt is
weighing heavily on their young shoulders. They are still
children and already so desperately unhappy and lonely. You
would toss them to the wolves, but my heart breaks for
them, for I know what their life will be like. For God's
sake, my Muslim brothers and sisters, look around you for
the signs. Children need to know that they are valuable,
useful human beings regardless of their sexual orientation.
Take their self esteem away from them and, like me, they
will look for a quick and permanent exit from this world.
They may not have the faith in Allaah as I do. Do you want
    their death on your conscience?
You say there is no such thing as a gay Muslim.
Homosexuality is condemned in Islaam. The two terms are
mutually exclusive, you say. But also condemned in Islaam
are alcohol, interest, eating haram food, gambling,
hypocrisy and fornication. Logically then there is no such
thing as a Muslim alcohol drinker, Muslim haraam food
eater, Muslim interest taker, Muslim gambler, Muslim
hypocrite or Muslim fornicator. The terms should all be
just as mutually exclusive. How the Islamic world would
shrink to shrug off such people! And I'm not even including
the wife abusers (oh, so rampant in the Islamic world,
through no fault of Islaam, but through age-old cultural
practices of male-centred societies!). And what about those
who don't pray, fast, give Zakaat, love, remember or fear
Allaah? Not to mention those of you who wrote brother
Sulayman X with profusively abusive and gratuitously
obscene language and death threats. How ironic that in your
haste to "defend" Islaam, you are instead ridiculing it in
the eyes of the world by your atrocious behaviour and foul
language totally unbecoming of true Muslims! How self-
righteous and indignant you are, my noble brothers and
sisters! Maa-shaa-Allaah, you must be perfect Muslims for
your Islamic sensibilities to be so hurt! A great prophet
once said: "Let he who has not sinned cast the first
stone." Which of you does not engage in any of the above
atrocities? You can lie to me, but Alaah is a witness to
what is in your heart. You feel free to engage in un-
Islamic acts, but the fact alone that you have heterosexual
feelings - THIS ONE FACT ALONE - makes you a better Muslim
and human being than me? Allaah is the best Judge.
I am Muslim. I am gay. These are two immutable facts. I
look at it as my test from Allaah. Only He knows why I am
this way. I do not profess my gayness with any degree of
pride whatsoever. I do not encourage it nor do I propagate
it. I accept it. It has brought me nothing but misery
because of one-sided love and the intense loneliness and
heartache that results. I don't want to be gay. But I
simply am in my heart and in my soul. It is all I know. Why
that is so, only Allaah knows. I do not question His
Wisdom, only pray for peace of mind and happiness, things
that others take for granted but which continue to elude my
frenzied grasp. But if by writing this, I can help others
like me who need comfort and understanding, al-
    hamdulillaah.
Loneliness and guilt can lead to desperate self-
destruction. May Allaah continue to save me and others like
me from suicide and give us strength to carry on amid those
who would seek to condemn us for something we have no
control over. No human being has the power nor the right to
judge me or say otherwise. To tell me simply to change is
to be ignorant of the homosexual psyche. You may attack my
gayness with all the ignorance and intolerance you can
summon up, but do not be so presumptuous as to attack my
Islaam. Allaah is MY judge. And to say that He would
condemn me for feelings I cannot control, is to impute a
cruelty and intolerance that does not, and cannot, exist in
the Allaah that I love with all my heart. For Allaah is
µarhamar-raahemeen' - the Most Merciful of those who show
mercy. May He bring comfort to those of us that desperately
    seek it. Aameen.
I leave you with a poignant quote from Sulayman X. If there
is any vestige of compassion, love or mercy in your heart,
try to understand what our brother is saying:
"If wanting the companionship of other homosexuals is my
only crime, then I will gladly pay the price. Better to be
punished for wanting to love than giving in to hate. If
wanting to create a compassionate and pragmatic response to
homosexuality among the Muslim community is my only crime,
then go ahead and sentence me. Better to be punished for
trying to build bridges rather than tearing them down. If
telling the truth is a crime, then so be it. I would rather
be punished for being honest about myself than be accepted
    because of hypocrisy."
PS: Sulayman, my brother, in your struggle, know that you
are not alone. If it is your intention to sensitize and
educate the Muslim community in a gentle and non-
confrontational way, then I am on your side. But especially
if it is to provide some vestige of hope to trapped and
marginalized Muslim gays, hope for a place where they can
finally find acceptance, where they are among kindred
spirits who understand and can help assuage the pains of
loneliness and guilt associated with being both gay and
Muslim - if such is your intention, then I commend you
highly and wish you success. Inshaa-Allaah you may well
save a few lives along the way. And for that, may Allaah
reward you. I am impressed by your courage and your
remarkable dignity and forbearance in the face of such
tremendous verbal bile spewed by irate Muslims whose very
sense of Islamic self-importance and nobleness your honesty
has apparently insulted. Most of all, brother, I am
impressed by your perspicacity and God-given eloquence.
These will prove to be valuable tools in your continuing
struggle against ignorance and narrow-mindedness. Inshaa-
    Allah.

    Asalaamo Alaykum!
    Bismillah:
    Dear Suleyman,
Thank you for this site ya akhee, well done! May Allah(swt)
bless you for your efforts, and may we all be guided to the
    faith,
wisdom, and light that is Allah(swt).

    Subject: Encouragement
    Date: Fri, 05 Jun 1998 12:33:59 -0400
    To: gaymuslims@geocities.com
    Dear Friends:
The long letter on your Webster from Abdurrahan was one of
    the most touching
I have ever read. So much so that I must respond with
    encouragement for
your cause. I hope you will take the time to read this
    letter.
I am not gay, but over the years I have had many gay
    friends, both male and
female, and still have good gay friends today. As a
    straight white male I am
writing these words of encouragement so you will know that
    not all of us are
as stupid as some of us!
    1. My gay friends have been among the best friends I have
    ever had. They
have always been the epitome of courtesy, kindness and
    friendship. I have never
seen hate and bigotry spew forth from gays like I have seen
    hate and bigotry spew
forth from straight, especially Christians and Muslims.
    2. Gays are not the least bit unnatural; anyone who thinks
    so is just plain
ignorant. Gays have existed in all parts of the world in
    all the annals of
history. Italy, India, Spain, Australia, China, Finland,
    Iceland, Japan, Argentina, North
America and England, Cuba, Finland, Hawaii, Norway, Peru,
    Thailand, Mexico and
Africa. In every part of the planet gays have been present
    since recorded
history, and in every culture, religion and society that
    has ever been. (And major
contributors to benefit of mankind I might add)
What is "natural"? That which occurs in nature is natural,
    that's
what. And homosexuality occurs in nature not only in
    humans, but in many, many
species of the animal kingdom too. Biologists and
scientists have known this for many
years, but the ignorant among us still don't have a clue.
    They are to busy learning
bigotry from ancient books to learn anything of value.
    3. There is a large, and growing, amount of scientific
    evidence for the
genetic basis of homosexuality. In males, the Xq28 region
of chromosomes is a case in
    point.
Ignorant people don't know this either; that's why they're
    ignorant.
Around the world, men and women of science are working day
    and night to
discover the mysteries of ourselves and the universe around
    us, in every field
from astronomy, to biology to zoology. They are knowledge
    seekers, they are truth
seekers. The Human Genome project is an example. For over
    10 years millions of
people all around the globe have participated in one of the
    grandest experiments of
all time, mapping the human genome so that we may better
    know, and understand,
ourselves. In time, they will succeed.
The people who spew hate at you are ignorant of all this.
    We should
    pity them their ignorance.
    4. Religions- I see hate spew forth from Christians towards
    gays like a
fountainhead. I see hate spew forth from Moslems towards
    gays like a fountainhead.
They have books that tell them so.
Do these books say that homosexuality is unnatural (when it
    isn't)? Do
these books say the earth is flat (when it isn't)? Do books
    that say such things
sound divinely inspired to you? They don't to me. If I see
    a book that says ignorant
things that were believed in primitive times, I would
conclude that it was written by
ignorant men who lived in primitive times. Is that not
    logical?
Did these books tell us about the widespread homosexuality
    in the animal
kingdom? If the Being that inspired these books didn't like
    homosexuality, why
did It create it in the animal kingdom?
Did these books tell us that all human embryos start out as
    females? And
that with chemicals like androgens some of the female
    embryos are converted to
male embryos? And that an over- or under-supply of
    androgens can flub things
up so that babies are born with the genitals of both sexes?
    (Called hermaphrodites)
If the Being doesn't like the sexes getting mixed up, why
    would It create millions of
babies born each year with genitals of both sexes?
Has anything caused more pain, suffering, torture, murder,
    crusades,
wars, inquisitions hatred, discrimination, bigotry and
    division among mankind than
religions have? If so I'd like to know what it is.
    5. Be proud, not ashamed. Gays have nothing to be ashamed
    of, and
everything to be proud of. Gays are just as natural and as
    left-handed people. (Did
you know that in every study that has been done, gays have
    consistently tested with
higher IQ's than the general population?)
    6. Little by little we will eliminate ignorance and
    superstition from the
world. It won't happen next week or even in the next few
    decades, but eventually
    it will occur.
Remember that one religion, following it's book, imprisoned
    one famous
man for life, and burned another famous man alive at the
    stake for saying that the
earth revolved around the sun. And that religion refused to
    admit its error for over
300 years. Ignorance, bigotry and superstitions die slowly.
I have 2 daughters and told them from childhood that gays
    are no different
in life than people who are left-handed or have red hair. I
    wanted each of
them to be tolerant of others in life, and to know that
    should they be gay I
would love them no differently. My older is 19 and
apparently straight, and my younger daughter is just now
    going through puberty.
I can't imagine many things more horrible than a child
    discovering their
sexuality they didn't choose, and fearing or not having the
    love of their
parents for it . That fear and pain must be absolutely
    horrible, and is no
less than unbelievable cruelty. In my opinion, any religion
    that would
promote such an abomination upon a child is a purveyor of
    cruelty and evil,
    not love.
I wish you all the best, and I will continue to do whatever
    I can to
eliminate the ignorance and bigotry against gays.
Feel free to post this letter on your website.
If any of you hate-spewers out there would like to send me
    some hate mail,
    please do.
I love to see how you can't even spell simple words. You
    are ignorant.
    Sincerely yours,
    Doug

  78. Being Muslim and Gay Added by: bonzo (hazuzi@hotmail.com)
[Timestamp: Wed 19 May, 15:28 Tasmanian Standard Time]

    ---------------------------------------------------
    Salam all...
This is an Egyptian gay guy who lived in Egypt
most of his life and now living in the US...
i stumbled on this homepage while i was doing some
    research..
This is mainly a reply for a specific e-mail that
mentioned that homosexuality is forbidden and God
created Adam and Steve, No gays in Egypt bla bla
    bla bla...
for that person.. let's break down your e-mail
and see what you wrote..Regarding Homosexuality
in Islam .. you said that homosexuality is forbidden..
you really don't know the difference between HOMOSEXUALITY
and PRACTICING HOMOSEXUALITY... Islam recognizes the
fact that there are some people who are born with
such a dilema.. Islam recognizes the "homosexual"
AND ISLAM GIVES THEM SOME RIGHTS.. and PRACTICING
HOMOSEXUALITY is NOT NOT NOT NOT one of them... there
is nothing wrong being homosexual and muslim..what
is wrond is PRACTICING it.. like foolin around with
other men.. it is the behavior that is forbidden not
the BEING. now here is the difference... IBN TAYMIA..
in case you don't know him is a muslim scholar and he
never got married because he had some homosexual
tendencies. So please when you refer to homosexuality
and its status in Islam, make sure you talk about
    PRACTICING homosexuality..
Second, AIDS. you said that AIDS was originated by
    homosexuals.. that's a BIIIIIIIIG BULLSHIT..execuse
my French.. in the late 1950's The United States'
    Legistlation
came up with the idea of germ warfare to target specific
segment of the American population.. which are basically
    Gays
and Blacks.. so they developed AIDS as part of that
germ warfare and they did target that segment. Stupid
enough, they didn't know that some people are bisexuals.
So the disease started to spread everywhere and became
out of control..The solution for that disease was
excise of Labotemy or part of it in the brain. the part
that has everything to do with sex.. so it is not
the gay people who spread AIDS, it's the American
    Government.
Thrid, you mentioned that homosexuality is a disease. i
    would
to draw your kind attention to the fact that (PDR)
or the (Physicians Desk Reference) classified homosexuality
as a PSYCHOLOGICAL DISEASE.. NOT EVEN BIOLOGICAL.. that
was till the the 1960's after that they AGREED that it is
    NOT
A DISEASE.. so please update your records.. it's been
    almost
40 years since the physicians agreed it is not a disease..
    where were you ?...
Last but not least, you said that as far as you are
    concerened
there are no Gays in Egypt. DO YOU REALLY LIVE IN EGYPT ??
IN CAIRO IN PARTICULAR ??? hell.. last november there was
a gay cruise from Luxor to Aswan AND THERE WERE SOME
    GOVERNMENT
OFFICIALS ABORAD.. what does that tell you ?????
there is a HUGE gay community in Egypt, but you just don't
    know where
and i won't mention names cuz i'm sure they don't wanna
    deal with
    some hostile thoughts...

  79. wake up before you lose allthing Added by: just advice..please think of it...
[Timestamp: Wed 19 May, 22:25 Tasmanian Standard Time]

    al salam alaikom :
..please all don't believe any word from those telling that
islam allows some homosexual relations...if this is a right
thing...so why don't every one go to a public place and
    shout : i am a gay...
wake up...and get back from that way of
[alshaitan]....before you lose every thing...and remember
that one day you will be back in the dust...to face the
god...think what will you say then...
obey the god..not only for fear of [gahanam]...but because
    he is the god...
and don't say for anything : that is a small sin...but
think of how great is the god that you don't obey...
wa alsalam alaikom wa rahmat allah wa barakatoh...
