Wine tasting

Has anyone been wine tasting around Dijon in France? I was
wondering which vineyards are worth seeing and whether there
are any local tour companies that can drive you around (I
don't plan on spitting the wine out!).

dijon is at the northern edge of the best wine growing area
in france - and hence the world. the cote de nuits is the
very top area. you might find a tour company and if you do i
would wait until you are there. otherwise rent a bike or a
car and just tour around stopping wherever you want. the
other place to sample the produits de region is in the wine
shop in the towns. every largish town will have a place you
take your 5 litre plastic bottle and get it filled up with
your particular poison. they are very good at letting you
start off. i learned more about the vinyards of the south
west in the cave in cahors with the alchoholic owner than
two weeks driving around. my french seemed to get better as
    the tasting proceeded.
ps all you bordeaux fans can take a hike with your tannin.
and all you aussies and californians can keep thinking yours
is good, then there's more for me.
