Scotland Tips

Hi Everyone,
I'm leaving for Scotland in less than a week and am
desperate for any last minute tips. I'll be camping,
hiking, driving, and going all over the place - but I'm on a
seriously TIGHT budget and would appreciate any money-saving
advice. Where can you camp in Scotland? Do you have to
pitch your tent at a caravan park or can you head into
the hills a bit and camp for free? Also - any great spots
that aren't plastered all over the guide books? Anything,
anything, anything... I'll be checking this daily until my
flight.
Thanks so much

you can't be on that tight a budget if you can afford to
    drive.
if you are in the highlands and away from civilisation then
you can camp as you like for free. though it is only polite
to ask people if you can camp on their land, if building
    nearby.
you will get soaked and probably wish that you were camping
    near a pub
we often end up sleeping in the car.
if by any chance you are australian, ignore all the above,
you will have glorious weather (can't explain that, but
never heard an australian say anything different about the
    weather)
I wouldn't suggest camping in the big towns/cities
