I plan to travel through Italy this summer. What are the top ten "must see" cities, towns, villages?
And...for those of you who've been to Sicily, what places do you recommend?
Cheers

Hey traveller,
I just got back from Italy on Thursday and I must say that
it is a great country! You will no doubt love it.
My favourite places in Italy were:
1. Menaggio on Lake Como
2. Cinque Terre
3. San Gimignano
Of course there's always the must sees such as Florence,
Venice, Rome.
Try to avoid heavily touristed places like Venice on
weekends and remember that most museums are closed on
Mondays. And oh yeah, Italians take a siesta between noon
and 3pm so most stores are closed then.
I would also highly recommend going to Naples when you head
south. Despite all the stuff written about Naples being a
dirty and crime ridden city, it is extremely beautiful
there. In Naples, as with anywhere else in Italy, if you
keep your wits about you and remain aware about your
belongings you will have no problems. Before I went to
Naples, all the travellers I had talked to in Italy said
there was no way I could not like Naples when I got there
and that was true.
Another traveller I had talked to who had been to Sicily
really like Taormina so maybe you might give that some
thought.
I envy you for going to Italy now because I am now stuck in
my office for the rest of the summer and I wish I could be
travelling. Enjoy Italy, and be prepared for the crowds.
Good morning, "traveller"???????
