could anyone please recommend a good cheap hostel in belfast
somewhat near the university? i'll be there in june. also,
any suggestions for a cheap way to get from edinburgh to
belfast?

You could maybe try the university halls accomodation if
you're looking for cheapish stuff --- queens enquiries phone
number is 01232 245133. I think they should be able to put
you through to the Halls or hopefully be otherwise helpful.
Most of the students will have/be leaving around June.
Other accomodation may be guest houses as your best try.
The university is around the bottom of the Malone Rd and
Stranmillis Rd, if thats any help.
It's probably just as cheap to fly from Edinburgh to Belfast
as it is to get the train or boat. And it's probably the
least hassle. I guess just ask your travel agent about
prices. Theres a bus from the International Airport (I
think this is where you'd come in) into the city centre,
somewhere about 5pounds I think now (maybe not as much a
that).
If you're not time conscious you could check out flights to
Dublin! They might be cheaper and the bus from the airport
there is somewhere around 15 to 20 pounds (GPB). It'll take
a couple of hours to get to Belfast from there though.
