Rome hostel, please

I am about to start my first backpacking experience
in Europe, and I will begin in Rome. Does anyone know of a
hostel near Fiumicino airport or have any suggestions about
where I should stay when I first get there? I would like my
first night after being on a plane/in an airport for 24
hours to be relatively stress free. Also, would you
recommend taking a taxi from the Airport or a bus or what?
I am on a fairly tight budget. Thanks to all who respond!

Since you are on a budget, I wld recommend that you take the
train over a taxi since a taxi from the airport to town can
run around $40(US). As for a guidebook, I agree. Books like
Let's Go Europe generally have cheap accommodations listed
which will fit your pocket book. Look out for the showers in
some of the hostels though. They can be a little yucky.
Invest in a cheap pair of flip-flops to take along to avoid
    foot rot!

  3. train to termini Added by: katherine

there is a train that runs from the airport to the termini
station, right in the centre of Rome, and is easy to find at
the airport (just follow the crowd). There are lots of
hostels in this area, i stayed at a place called m&j's, but
the above mentioned guide book could give you lots of
alternatives. the only thing to be carful of is that the
termini station can get a little rough after dark, don't stay
too long, look like you know where you're going, and keep an
eye on your valuables. that said, have fun.
