I am travelling to the UK in July with a couple of mates and we are planing to go from London up to Scotland, across to Sth Ireland back to wales and pretty well straight back to London. Our route is unknowen as yet but will go where ever we feel like as the days go by. Could any one please tell us of any really great pubs around the UK that people have been to that was really happening with lots of young people there for us to get to know, maybe college pubs and sporting team pubs, as well as those great little out of the way pubs that are really old with great atmosphere. Don't get me wrong we are not wanting to do a pub crawl around the UK but at the same time we do enjoy the odd beer or two along the way. I find the Pubs from my last visit in the UK to be the nicest in the world and I would not want to miss out on any that were really worth checking out. Please leave a posting if you know of any such places from past travels or you maybe a local to a good establishment. Thankyou to who ever can help

    Hi,
My first night in Ireland was wonderful because I
wandered into T & H Doolan's in Waterford City, Ireland.
Great music and atmosphere and packed to the rafters with
    interesting people.

I can't quite fathom this. You want to go to the best pubs
    - both young and 'olde worlde', yet your trip around UK is
    just from London northwards?
The very best places are in the West Country, Bristol has
one of the best music scenes in the country, and if you want
a proper spit & sawdust pub, you need to get into the proper
countryside of Somerset, Dorset, & Devon.
Do backpackers etc. from Aus., NZ, USA, etc actualy realise
that there is a lot more to the UK than just London and
bloody Scotland? See the proper UK - go to the West
    Country.

seems. beware of cornwall during eclipse season, but other

Sorry West Country Boy and Jezebel I did not mean to offend any Western Englishmen. I did not quite explain myself fully, we are actually going to western england on our way back from Ireland. We are catching the ferry from Rosslare to Fishguard in Wales and then working our way round into England in the sth west and then back to London. Sorry once again and if you come back to this sight please leave the name of your favourite watering hole anywhere anyplace you never know we may just be passing by. THANKS

  8. Irish pubs are best Added by: Josep

    I agree with that jezebel.
You're unlikely to find pubs in the UK that are anyway as
good fun as those in Ireland. I've traveled quite
extensively around the world and been to many, many bars
but I've never come across bars that have as good and
friendly an atmosphere as those on offer in the Emerald
    Isle.
