Hi,
Can anyone recommend a good hostel in Helsinki? Something
central, around 100 markka a night?
Also, do hostels in Finland, Sweden and Norway provide
sheets, or do I need to bring one with me?
Thanks

Welcome to Finland
Hostels in Finland normally charge extra for sheets (in
helsinki anyway). You will get a 15 FIM discount on
accomodation if you are a member of any international youth
hostels association.
As for anything less that 100 FIM, it may be difficult to
find this in Helsinki.....the hostel in Vantaa is possibly
the cheapest in the area...but understandably a bit out of
town. Hostel Academica and the Olympic Stadium hostel are
mnore expensive and I think Eurohostel is even more so
(don't quote me on this as I am from Finland so have not
stayed in these hostels personally). I know hostels out of
Helsinki are generally cheaper...in cities like Turku etc
but as for less than 100FIM a night in spring/summer in
Helsinki unfortunately I thin you may be out of luck.
Enjoy Finland.

The hostel I stayed at in Sweden (on board the boat)
provided sheets at a price, but I find taking a sheet
sleeping bag is little trouble and more economical!
Lighthouse Hostel on street called Porthaniankatu in a city
area called Kallio in Helsinki.Metro stop Hakaniemi, only 2
stops from Railway station.Cheap, less than 100 FMK.
Ask also organisation called Oranssi , they have a hostel in
Katajanokka, Helsinki.
