Shower down the hall

I was wondering about budget hotels in European cities where
the showers are down the hall. how much privacy is there
...Is it typically a small bathroom, like what you have at
home, so its one person at a time and you lock the door
behind you -or- is it a couple of shower stalls in a large
room, with just a shower curtain for privacy?

They come in many forms. In a private home you'll be using
the family bathroom. In a small hotel you'll generally
always see seperate toilets, one or several on a floor. The
bathing facilities can vary alot according to the size and
age of the hotel. I've experienced in larger places two or
more tub rooms with ,of course, locked doors and three or
more private shower rooms per floor. In a smaller situation
you'll only get one toilet, and one or two bath/shower
rooms. Often this is enough if there are several rooms that
come with their own bathrooms. In one B&B in London we did
have a situation with large group shower rooms, one for
each sex. The showers had shower curtains, and a bench
inside, but the dressing/sink/mirror area was common. This
is the only time I'd seen this in a B&B/hotel.

  2. Privacy? What's that? Added by: katherine

Yes, variety is the way it goes. I have experienced all of
the above, as well as huge seventeen or eighteen cubical
deals, with a common drying/dressing area, right down to the
open style (ie no partitions, no curtains) of shower, which
was co-ed (you got to know your room mates fairly quickly in
that place, but it was an el-cheapo hostel in prague). In
hotels you're more likely to experience more privacy, some
can even be pretty nice, but in any situation, you'll
    probably have to queue.
