I saw the Lonely Planet North Spain show the other day. I
was hoping to get more info on the pilgrimage that she did.
How long does it usually take? The cost of the trail pass?
The cost of places to stay along the way, anything would
really help. Plus, if there is any info on the web about
it, please let me know

cheers. the program you were watching was about the
Pilgrimage of Santiago de Compostela from the French/Spanish
border 750 klicks to Santiago, in Galicia. There are three
main routes, but all converge about 150 km into Spain.
There is no "trail pass" cost, per se, but there is a pass
that you get in the beginning and you have stamped along the
way, verifying your journey. It typically takes around 30
days, and there is a well established trail that takes you
not only through the mountains but through the heart of
large cities like Leon. The most popular time to make the
trip is june as to arrive in July for the annual festival.
Lodging along the way is inexpensive or free. towns will
put up pilgrims in gyms, schools, etc.
there is no rule as to where you must begin your journey.
If you start in Leon, for example, you can make it in a
shorter time, still with the marked card and the sea shell
and the whole nine yards. Lodging in Santiago at the end is
a pain.
good luck.
