I found Vienna to be the most romantic city that I visited.
There was just something charming about strolling down the
old streets and getting lost. I remember many a romantic
night downtown where the only sounds you could hear were
that of fountains and the clicking of horses' hooves on the
cobblestones. I felt as though I could imagine what it was
like 100 years ago.
FLORENCE IS MY FAVOURIT, ,DRESS GOOD, I HAD TO LIVE THERE
FOR A YEAR, LOOK AT MY EMAIL ADDRESS.
Well, I guess everyone will have a different idea in mind about what's 'romantic', but give me the wild scenery of the Scottish highlands every time. For a more conventional idea of romantic, maybe Salzburg.
Florence. Beauty everywhere you look.
Definitely Barcelona. I found Paris to have no comparison.
Oh course, it is a more vibrant romance than say the
classical romance of other cities...but evening strolling
hand in hand with someone down Las Ramblas?
A picnic in the beautiful Parc Guell?
A tender kiss as you travel the cable car to the monastery
of Montserrat?
The moment of wiping chocolate from your loved ones lips as
you indulge in chocolato con churros for breakfast?
Oh well, I loved it anyway.
There are are tooo many romantic places around the world
one of them definitely being Venice - a nice romantic
Gondola ride with Italian music playing and a
bottle of wine to share.
Prague was pretty - a fairy tale castle, swans swimming up
the river, artists on the bridges, baroque architechure
(spelling?) a real 'eastern europe' feel - you can tell you
aren't in western europe anymore. Do it!
I used to have Paris as my favorite, but then I went to Rome. Venice is also romatic and definitely a town to see, but is or at least seems more packed with tourists (the streets are quite narrow). Generally I think that Italy is a very romatic country, probable because the italians are romatic in their way of thinking. I lived in Verona for a couple of years and what stroke me among other things was the way all these old building were lighten up in this soft and romatic way during night time. The effect is a quite romatic scenery
definitely
Definitely Florence
Noisy, dirty, rude people and exploited sheepish
tourists..... two visits to Florence is 2 too many.....
Paris is Number One for me; accessible by foot, train, food
of all prices and styles freely available. If you look good,
you will impress.
Salzburg is good too, and if you must try Italy, the Venice
is so different it is unforgettable.
Rome is the place to go for real romance. Make a wish in
the Trevi fountain, and it's all uphill from there. Sit
with a loved one on quaint squares with musicians and
artists surrounding you at night, compare hand sizes as an
excuse to hold theirs. Venture back to the hotel basement
to "chat" on your last night together, curl up under the
green tablecloth that's big and cozy enough to be a winter
blanket. My advice: keep the tablecloth. You'll regret it
if you don't. I did.
No doubt.
Antibetes, in the cote de azur is beautiful. Especially the
Hotel du Coup
Smaller villages in Austria like Gruenau. Mountains and
lakes with no one around. Green, fresh. Clean,
inexpensive pensions/hostels with down comfortors!
bridges, hidden gardens, lots of small passageways to
explore, gondolas, stone streets, no noisy cars, small
intimate restaurants and bars...Venice at night is
especially romantic, but it is wonderful all the time.
Since Vienna has already been mentioned, I'd suggest
Strasbourg. Canals, cathedrals. Just the place to wander
hand-in-hand.
Stockholm!!! To sit on the grass of Skinnarviksberget
(Skinnarvik mountain) looking out over the beauty of water
and islands of Stockholm is a real thrill....
Also sitting in the rain in november with a termos filled
with hot coffee and whisky, embracing your loved one
when the air is cold and clear, snow is everywhere, when
moonlit nights are brighter than days...
