Am looking for assistance in evaluating the following hotels in Barcelona: Hotel Jardi, Hotel Toledano, and Hotel Residencia Neutral. Would very much appreciate one's assessments as to the pros and cons of any or all of these places. Particularly interested in neighborhood security, proximity to metro station and local attractions. Many thanks for your responses.

  1. Hostal Jardi Added by: Jan M

I stayed at the Jardi last year. The location is about as
good as you will ever get, with two interesting plazas on
different sides, and 1 minute walk to the Ramblas, and about
5 minutes walk to the cathedral. There are lots of tapas
bars and restaurants, and interesting shops all around it,
and its near the part of the Ramblas where the market is.
Because its down a narrow lane in the pedestrians only area,
if you take a cab they may drop you off a block away, but
it's easy to find. It is also a reasonably safe area (for
Barcelona, which isn't very safe from pickpockets etc). The
hotel has a fancy new foyer, but once you go up the stairs,
its fairly old and jaded, though clean. We had a good double
room with a basic bathroom, and a balcony overlooking the
    plaza.
