Portugal sea temperature!

GOing to Portugal in early July. Wondered if there's much
difference in the temperature of the water if we go on the
south coast (Algarve)or the West. Have heard that we're
going to freeze in the sea anyway, but we're used to
swimming in Britain and Sweden. It can't be worse, can it?
Can anyone give us an idea? Cheers! Obrigado!
Jo

yes, not only in Lisbon. In Algarve the sea is freezing too
(as in Morocco etc.), is a matter of stream, the latitude
    don't influence the temperature.
But if you are used to swim in Sweden...

Thought you might like to know I was swimming in the
Pacific today in celebration of Victoria (the Queen, that
is). It's a national holiday in Canada and the unofficial
start of the summer season. We are having a bit of a heat
wave here in Vancouver. The temp today was 26C (normal for
late May is 18C). The water temp however, according to
posted signs, was 13C!!! I did manage the plunge four times
but oh did my balls ache!

The temperatures will be a hell of a lot better than the UK
and Scandinavia!!! The west coast is colder than the south
    - but you do get the big rollers. South is ideal for
waterskiing etc. - flat as a pancake. I personally don't
    think it's cold at all.

All depends on the direction of the wind.....

CHeers for all your speedy replies. Most of you seem to
agree we'll get a bit chilly! My balls won't freeze but my
husband's might. He's the one who's worried really and who
isn't all that happy in tne sea in England! Thanks anyway!
