Hi,
I'll spend 10 hours in Reijkiavik (oops for the spelling)
on June the 17, the greatest holiday for Icelanders. I
think I'd like to see some of it instead of getting bored
in the airport waiting for my next plane. Could someone
tell me how far is the airport from downtown? I've also
heard that Iceland is horribly expensive, would it be
possible to go downtown with public transportation instead
of a taxi?
Any recommendations would be great.
Thanks in advance
Claire

Keflavick International Airport is about 45 minutes from
Reykjavick airport, But don't worry Keflavick is a small
airport and while exiting the airport you are basically
herded by the flybus to the city center of reykjavik. The
bus costs 700 ISK and the service will pretty much take you
anywhere you want to go.
ps Look into doing the Blue Lagoon (15 mins from the
airport) during your 10 hours (its as nice as chilling in
the city) so many pretty icelandic folks hanging about :)

Dear Monkey,
Thank you so much for the info. Sure I'll go to the Blue
Lagoon and have a drink for you!
Do you think it's possible to go back to the airport on a
public bus?
Thanks again.
Claire
the fly bus is really is the cheapest way to get to the
city center and back, (in my experience)
there are busses to and from the blue lagoon on the flybus
line - just ask at the kiosk - by the exit to the busses
they were very nice and greatly helpful...
