Hi everyone I am an Aussie planning a trip to Russia around
december and january and was wondering if there is anyone
else out there willing to brave the cold at this time of
the year. I would like to meet up with any english speaking
people while I am there as my russian is almost non-
existant. I am thinking of taking the trans siberian rail
journey while I am there also. Is this a good trip or is it
a waste of money? Do you have to organise all the places
you are going to stay before you can get a visa. I can get
a personal invitation from a friend that lives there and I
was wondering if this would give me more freedom to go to
different places without organising where I will be staying
beforehand. Any information or travel tips would be great.

september - any advice/addresses?
:) ciao
oops - sorry fellow aussie, i got a bit confused about what
a 'post' was...unfortunately i can't help you with info on
Russia! But having just survived a winter in Oulu, Finland
on exchange, i can warn you it gets pretty damn cold (-37!)
and it's not much fun being anywhere outside...but the
northern lights take your breath away!!
ciao and happy travels :)

At this time I have not thought much about traveling to
these countries as I only have about two months holiday at
this stage. It is worth thinking about though.
