Has anyone been to the Greek Island of Lefkada (or Levkas).
Can you tell me what it's like?

    Hi,
I've been there in the 1998 summer. Campings can be reached
    by bus from Lefcada capital.
Walking from vilage to vilage can be dangeres (busy roads,
no pavements). Not a lot restaurants, cristal clear water
    (in whole Greece).
Lefkas is fine for 2 days.

A fine, green island. The water is indeed crystal clear
and surprisingly cold by Greek standards. The beaches are
pebbled, and the ones on the west coast get very deep
fast. Vasiliki, on the south end is windsurfers'
paradise. The roads are narrow; so Frank is right about
walking, and I have to add there are no lights outside the
villages themselves, so a pocket fliashlite is essential.
The island is connected to the mainland by a drawbridge, so
you actually get there by bus!
