I am going to travel to Volos and Mt Pelion in September. I
am interested in any nice hotels or places to stay which are
in a scenic place and under $60 per day.

I have just got back from this region - you'll love it! All
accommodation in B&B / pensions/ small guesthouses is under
$60 - the most expensive place I stayed was in Macrinitsa
where I paid 12000 drachmas ($50?), and that included
breakfast. You won't need to book anywhere in September as
the summer rush will be over. Macrinitsa is a lovely little
town, though very busy with day trippers piling in by tour
bus!. I also liked Zagora and all the little beaches around
that area. Volos is OK for a night, but there isn't an
awful lot to see or do there. You definitely need a car for
this region, and as an extra suggestion, since you're in
the area ... I would definitely visit the monasteries of
Meteora, they are absolutely amazing! Accomodation in
guesthouses there is also relatively cheap, around $40 per
night including breakfast, though you can probably find
cheaper - especially if you speak a little Greek. Have fun!
