  1. End in Kos Added by: TGD

The easiest way to cross over to Turkey is from Kos to
Kusadasi, so Kos should be the last island on your trip.
Patmos is nearby so you could visit it just before Kos.
But of course you should also visit the Cyclades; Santorini
and Mykonos are at the top of the list. However, I don't
know how easy it is to get from there to Kos/Patmos. The
port offering the best connections to the other islands
must be Paros; you will probably have to go through Paros
anyway and its worth a visit, although I prefer the nearby
Naxos. One of the smaller islands off the beaten track
like Serifos, Amorgos or Astypalaia is also worthwile. But
try to find out how to get to Kos first.

There's a hydrofoil going from Rhodes to Marmaris. I spent a couple of weeks island hopping (Ios, Santorini, Paros, Rhodes) before heading onto Turkey. I'd play it by ear - go with the flow! Be flexible enough to change your itinerary if you don't like where you end up.

  3. Kos to Kusadasi? Added by: Michael

Methinks poster number one got the facts mixed up! Kos is
nowhere near Kusadasi. Maybe he meant Kos to Bodrum? I
agree with poster number 2. Flexibility is the key to
independent travel. You can cross Kos-Bodrum,
    Samos-Kusadasi, Rhodes-Marmaris, Chios-Cesme. Do whichever
is more convenient. My wife and I personally prefer the
Rhodes-Marmaris crossing on the hydrofoil. Coming into the
harbor at Marmaris is truly fantastic.

It really depends what you want to see in Greece
If it is touristic, well known islands go for rhodes
or Kos. But if you want to see something more remote
, closer to real Greece, i would suggest that you
go to the islands in the North Aegean sea, Lesvos
Chios or Samos. You can then cross very easily to
the coast of Turkey, it doesnt take more then 45
    minutes.

I meant Kos to Bodrum. I know of people that fly to Samos
and then cross over to Kusadasi, but I think that Samos is
not so easy to get to by boat when you are on Cyclades.
