Petrol prices in Greece?

Can anyone tell me what kind of trap I am stepping into, if
I hire a car in Greece? Specifically, what can I expect to
pay (in drachmas) per litre.

Last spring ,anyway,- the car was cheap- 30-35 US$/a day.
the gas was 6- 7US$/ gallon- (roughly). This was on
Mykonos.- Your on vacation- do it, and enjoy it!

Thanks for buffering me from sticker shock upon arrival. I
thought France at $5/gallon was as high as I would find in
Europe. I guess I needed to guess again!

You should expect to pay around 200 drachmas per litre of
unleaded. Prices may vary a lot from one area to the other.
It is more expensive on islands and in remote areas, so you
may get it as low as 190 and as high as 220.
By the way, the most expensive company in all areas seems
to be Texaco; Shell is the cheapest of the multinationals,
but the local companies usually offer an even lower price.
