I'm planning on going to Prague in August, and was wondering
if anyone knows of any parties/festivals going on around
that time. Also, can anyone recommend some good things to
get up to in Prague.
Cheers,
eurobum

Nah, i probably won't, though I haven't come up with any
dates to travel yet....thought i'd try and find out what was
going on before deciding that. Don't spose you know what
the prices are like now? I've been told that a couple of
years ago beer was stupidly cheap...but now?

Beer - around 0,5USD. I am Czech - I must know it, no? Of
course in the centre the prices are higher, but why to
drink a beer in centre for 3USD when there is a lot of pubs
    with beer under 50cents?

I was just there, and in
    not-really-touristy-but-not-quite-local places beer was $1
US. If its more than that (35 crowns), it's too high.
Check out avetravel--they are super for reservations of
places to stay. I recommend looking into an apartment--we
paid $50-60 a night for a tiny hotel/hostel and then got
smart and got a gorgeous, big apartment (bedroom/living
room, kitchen, bath) for $30/night. It's defenately the way
to go. If you're into guidebooks, avantguide (web site, too)
    is good & not stodgy.
