Scrutineer - are you there?
Did you make a decision about the next book?

RMM is away this week, so discussion of Desert Places will
start next Monday Australian time / Tuesday N American
time, after the US long weekend.

Into Thin Air - Jon Krakauer
    Anchor Books
    ISBN 0-385-49208-1 (Paperback edition)

Let's give everyone time to find a copy and read it. Shall
we say, discussion to take place near the end of June?

P.S. It was a very close vote!

    America.

I'll try and join in discussions this time.

I'm still trolling thorugh "The Old Patagonian Express",
    believe it or not.
I'm starting to skim so I can finish the damn thing. Not
really enjoying it as you may guess.
Looking forward to "Into Thin Air" though.

Out of curiosity, I just checked out Into Thin Air at
Amazon and their 'One Click' ordering system just makes it
too damn easy to order books...so as I've just ordered it,
make sure you let me know when the review is!

  8. Welcome on board, Brit Added by: Sally
[Timestamp: Mon 24 May, 10:29 Tasmanian Standard Time]

There is always a post or two on the board announcing when it will start. Scrutineer will be the one responsible this time. Towards the end of June. Usually takes about 4 weeks between deciding and discussing. There was also another page where the discussions were archived. I don't know if it still exists, in light of the recent off-board shenanigans. I haven't checked.

Had my holidays delayed one week à just the week we've chosen to start discussing Desert Places. Maybe I
can play catch up when I get back.
    Back to work.

  11. I have a question Added by: Euro
[Timestamp: Tue 25 May, 7:22 Tasmanian Standard Time]

If RMM and others are leaving the site, where will the
discussions take place? I am leaving my addy here so you can
get in touch with me. bubbles@thevortex.com

  12. I have an idea Added by: Sally
[Timestamp: Tue 25 May, 16:24 Tasmanian Standard Time]

Am going to set up a Onelist group for the bookchat. Will post the addy here soon. This is not a secret society...just those interested TTYCers who want to join in. It will be moderated and flame free!

  13. Travel_Book_Club Added by: Sally
[Timestamp: Tue 25 May, 17:08 Tasmanian Standard Time]

Because several participants in the Book Club have now left TTYC, but may want to participate in book discussions, I have set up a Onelist discussion group called Travel_Book_Club.

It will be moderated (by me) : be assured that I won't delete anything for language or opinion, only blatant flaming and spamming.

It is unrestricted, so anyone may join, however, as list moderator / owner I will have the right to ban people if they create havoc!

I am really hoping to give it a go, so please join me there if you feel able.

I will also make an announcement on TTYC so that people who are interested can join in. It is not meant to be exclusive.

There won't be any discussion of TTYC itself.
