Sick of this!

I am so sick of hearing of hearing about violence among
teenagers in the schools!! I happen to be from Colorado and
this Littleton media frenzy is disgusting! It is a very
marketable event. It's like going to a concert! There are
CD's, bumper stickers, t-shirts,ect...Everyone wants to be a
part of the attention. There are loads of special events,
and fund raisers, people drive for miles to gawk at Clement
park which is covered with flowers-florists couldn't be
happier! They area is covered with trash that "tourists"
eave behind. In the surrounding neighborhoods there are
Columbine decorations-ribbons and wreaths. It's like the
neighbors are competing on who has the best Columbine
tradgety decor. It's repulsive! I just read a statistic that
60,000 kids were killed last year by their parents. Hundreds
of Kosavo refugees are dying in camps everyday but yet it is
a less newsworthy(meaning unmarketable) event. Who else
agrees?

    Amy, very well said.

Please tell us more about them. Is there anything to
compliment the NRA "The more people I meet, the more bullets
I need " bubper sticker on Bill's Morris Minor?

all people want to personalize the tragedy for themselves,
which explains the crowds of tourists. It's like driving
past O.J.'s house; you know he's not there but you want to
see it anyway. I think the t-shirts are a bit much, but
this is the American way so none of us should be
    surprised.

  4. there are too many kids being produced Added by: 4

If people would only stop having kids, there'd be fewer
    teenagers to wreak such havoc.

I agree. You summed it up in the words "Everyone wants to be part of the attention". I's the same thing that motivates people to incite and prolong flame wars, in a much bigger way. LOOKATMELOOKATMELOOKATMELOOKATME etc

The kids are chicken shit compare to the scale of death in the other place you mention. But that has also been overblown by the media.
Let the useless europeans worry about Kosovo. Anything the US do will only get yell at for putting out the fire. Let their house burn.

no one knows how to give the news in a way that doesn't
support some parties' ideals (ie, the party which draws most
off of poeple's pity and willingness to deal with problems
other than their own) so they have to keep saying the same
    thing over and over again

  8. BRILLIANT!!!!! Added by: FLASH

The incident was very tragic but, WAKE UP AMERICA!!!!!, it
happens everyday. Those kids who died were no more special
than any kid who dies in Africa, India or in Kosovo of
    late.
Hey Amy why don't you apply to the govt to help them craft
U.S. foreign policy. And while your at it shut the media
    down.
This is the reason that I don't have a TV. I threw mine
out about five years ago and have been happier ever since.
Even the news was about entertainment.
I remember watching TV to see the Popes historic visit to
Cuba. But the media dedicated most of the coverage to
something about Monica L. and Linda Tripp.
    I gave up after that.
It's the same if this country goes to war. One of us dies
and the country cries about it for days. Last year that
air force pilot killed 20 Italians in the Alps. What of
    that?
This is a great country but we tend to trivialize anything
that does not happen to one of us. The media needs to be
liquidated. They need a degree in acting before they can
"OBJECTIVELY" present the news. It's really a joke.
