This august I need to get away for at least two weeks. I
am going stir crazy here in Taiwan. I really like to go to
a carribean spanish speaking country to learn salsa,
menrengue or son and brush up on my spanish. I was
thinking of going with global exchange but I am on a tight
budget. I am just a working class hero with low pay.
Should I try cuba on my own or go to Santo Domingo, Panama,
Puerto Rico or Mexico? I will be flying to New York via
Los Angeles. From these two points I can connect very
easily to the spanish speaking americas. Any and all
comments are wellcomed!

Cuba or Mexico would probably be cheapest. But you do
realize you can't fly directly from New York to Cuba? You
need to go to a third country, usually Cancun, mexico or
Montreal or Toronto Canada. There are no direct flights
from the US to Cuba because of the trade embargo.
I also am planning on going to Cuba alone in Aug. Probably
for a couple of weeks though I may go even sooner since I
can't stand real life anymore and need a little escape!!
