The best thing that could happen to Cuba is to become a
state of the great American Union...after all...cubans and
americans have more in common than any other people in this
hemisphere...Hopefully, this wish will be become a
reality...then, Varadero Beach, Cayo Coco, and all these
beautiful places will fly the great american flag!

and where is your justification for this? If you are going
to make such a statement surely you can justify it. And
what makes you think that the rest of the world wants to
    see a US flag there?

  2. In your "dreams" senor USA !!! Added by: noAmericano
[Timestamp: Fri 21 May, 19:57 Tasmanian Standard Time]

One of the nice things about visiting Cuba is the absent
sounds of the loud and know-it-alls, "and if the shoe fits -
    wear it !!!"

  3. wake up!! Added by: almost cuban (adinard@the star.ca)

YOU LOUD MOUTHS,IGNORANT AMERICANS SHOULD WAKE UP AND SMELL
THE STRONG ESPRESSO COFFEE.CUBANS DO NOT WANT YOU THERE
ESPECIALLY FIDEL HIMSELF WHO DOES'NT THINK MUCH OF CLINTON
    AND HIS CAST OF IDIOTS!!!

  4. Land of the ???? Added by: LondonLass
[Timestamp: Fri 21 May, 22:11 Tasmanian Standard Time]

Do you truely believe that this would be the "best thing
for Cuba" or is it that you can't stand the fact that this
is one country where you can't bully your way in?
    *
Anyway, I thought that it was your own beloved government
who prevents YOU from travelling to CUBA.
    *
    "Land of the free" Mmmm?????????

  5. Is everyone so naive to believe this is post by an American Added by: Gringo
[Timestamp: Fri 21 May, 23:30 Tasmanian Standard Time]

Why would the US want another 11 million mouths to feed? Military staging area in th Carrib? there's already Purto Rico. Speaking of which, the PR's economy is prop up by subsidies. Is the US generous enuf to want another big expense?
I wouldn't be suprise if this is set up by another noAmericano to stir up anti-US feelings.

  6. he's just stirring Added by: Anny (anny@uq.net.au)
[Timestamp: Sat 22 May, 0:57 Tasmanian Standard Time]

For goodness sakes, can't you all see that Mr USA is just
stirring? Don't get so excited. Everyone who has been to
Cuba knows that one of the main things that makes it so
wonderful is that there are hardly any Americans there. I
hope they never lift the embargo because that's the only
    way to keep Cuba gringo-free.

  7. #3 Cubans don't want Americans? or US$$? Added by: joe
[Timestamp: Sat 22 May, 6:47 Tasmanian Standard Time]

I think the US should politely refuse the Island once Castro croaks and the people want to become the 51st state. Afterall, we already have Purto Rico. There's no need to send more $$$ to 11 million waiting hands.
And Jan of #1, If the Cuban want to fly a US flag( or for that matter, a dollar flag)over the island, Que matter what the rest of the world think?
#4 with Londonlass: It's best American are discourage to go. Or the US will be blame for everthing from Hurricane to jailing dissidents.
Seriously, Americans can be there for legit reasons, no problem. And not so legit ones long as discretion is observed. But you know that already.

  8. For Joe Added by: Jan
[Timestamp: Sat 22 May, 7:26 Tasmanian Standard Time]

Exactly what I was saying...the rest of the world includes
Cuba! Cuba is for the Cubans to rule not the rest of us!

  9. SORRY MR.USA Added by: Jean Pierre (gatienj@cancom.net)
[Timestamp: Sat 22 May, 12:34 Tasmanian Standard Time]

The country wants your $ but do not want you.
They want you to lift your embargo or blocus but they do not
    want to trade their identity.
Cuba has been going elsewhere since 1994 to improve it's
economic situation and in Cuba, from Japan to Europe,Mexico
and South America and of course Canada.
Cuba and Cubans do not want to share your flag, imposed on
    them since 1898 to 1959.
They will remain Cubans within their system now with Castro
and after with Post-Castro's well educated people already in
    place and driving the country...
Wake up Mr USA,Cubans share your love of baseball and this
    is all...
By the way, ever been to Cuba?

  10. Pardon me Jean Pierre... Added by: joe
[Timestamp: Sat 22 May, 14:20 Tasmanian Standard Time]

Perhap I am ignorant, but please explain the sentiment Cubans have for YUMA.
Cuba had to go elsewhere in 1994 for $$, but will you say it's out of choice? What kept them for so long? Why the reform, then ambush the entrepeneurs with crushing tax? What evidence do you see that things will remain unchange when Castro go to see Chairman Moa?
You said they want the $$ but not the US ways, how many people did you survey? Of the population you sample, how many are without a CDR watching as you ask? Did you just pull a conclusion out of the air or get your info from Granma?
This is not intend to flame and no disrespect is suggested. But you seems to be half way inform. Maybe you can share your view? I've been to Cuba as non-tourist, have you?

    AAAAAAAAH!!!!!
    Shove off dwezel brain!
I am a Cdn who studied at the University of Havana for a
    semester through my University.
God help those poor fools if they have to be American in
order to participate in the world economy.
I have no doubt you sticky fingered yanks will try to snap
    it up.
Anyway, Cuba can always join Canada. Just for the sake of a
dumb argument we have a hell of a lot more in common with
them then you guys do. Socialized health care for instance
and we never imposed sanctions on them.
Send 'em up here 'bys! Jean Chretien, Fidel... I see a
    resemblance don't you?

  14. Ugh? Added by: In addition
[Timestamp: Sun 23 May, 12:36 Tasmanian Standard Time]

    As a matter of fact...
If we got Cuba we could finally get rid of those snotty
Quebeckers then make Spanish our official second language.
Salsa could be taught in High Schools and moros y
christianos could be served up in pubs and maybe the taxes
would finally go down because of all those Cuban black
marketeers and we could put Che's face in the middle of the
maple leaf and replace the beaver with the sugar cane as a
national symbol and Raul Castro could become the next leader
of the Torie party and Fidel could replace the Queen on our
twoonies and during question period all our MPs would wear
fruit plates on their heads and do the Samba.
N.B. The Samba is actually Brazilian, but since you seem to
know so little about Cubans and Cuba I figured you wouldn't
    really notice.

  15. your'e all wrong Added by: pete
[Timestamp: Sun 23 May, 22:11 Tasmanian Standard Time]

your'e all wrong ! the problem is not the US, but the
Cuban exile's. They are the ones lined up just waiting for
castro to die, so they can flood back with all the money
they have made in the US and clean up. With the kind of
money they have they will take over Cuba. Lets wait and see
how much compassion there will be for all the families that
have had to suffer living there all these years. They are
the ones responsible for the embargo, and largly the
suffering and shortages of the people living in Cuba. The
ugly American is realy an ugly sugar growing Cuban.
Why do you think there was a reveloution in the first
place?.. to get rid of the rich, share nothing, greedy
Cuban, not american. They have more money than God, and
they are very clever people. So think about it. who is the
real enemy of the poor Cubans....

  16. I can not figure it out...! Added by: An european.
[Timestamp: Mon 24 May, 4:37 Tasmanian Standard Time]

... why so many people have these feelings about U.S
Americans are people like many others. I like them better
than French from Paris, who never smile, I think they are
more livley and open than Brits and Germans. They are much
more polite than Spaniards, and more sensative then many
other people. It just happen that they work hard and earn
their money, and I guess their economic wellness provokes
jelosy in other nations. I disagree many times with U.S.
government, yet it is not the reason to hate American
    people.
By the way Cubans "en realidad" like Americans, many have
relatives in U.S. who send billions of dollars every year to
the islands, and that where the true support of Cuban failed
economy lays. Not investments of Canadiens or Japanese or
Spanish, but the very same Cubans in exile who love their
country and their relatives to the point that that send
money knowing that it will end up in the hands of their
enemy Castro, and will buy fuel fro his tanks and planes.
I do not think Cuba will join U.S. and I do not think U.S.
wants Cuba to join U.S. because it would be too expensive.
I also do not think that politics should be confused with
people. I personaly like Americans, because my heart is free
of jelosy and envie. They worked hard for what they are, we
all should respect that and strive for the same excelence.
What good does it make to bitch on the Internet? WHile you
complaining about Americans, they work, and get better and
stronger everyday. We got to learn from them, and eventually
whenyou all are strong, you will stop hating them, because
trully you do not hate they for what they are, but because
they show you, what you are not! Now, go take on the day.
