France. Mexico. Cuba. Kenya: No. A corrupt and brutal regime
and widespread violence and crime. I correspond with
Kenyans. They know how life really is there. Traveller

I am very much enjoying your countries of travel choice,
but I would further love to know what it is you liked, and
where you went. Perhaps I someday would like to duplicate
    your highlight

  10. HAITI Added by: Happy
[Timestamp: Sat 13 Feb, 8:31 Tasmanian Standard Time]

    Haiti because of
1.the exciting religious culture - voodoo temples everywhere, the religion influencing on so many aspects of everyday life.
    2. a proud history - the first black republic! The African slaves made the French leave as early as 1804.
    3. The fact that it isn't crowded with tourists and the people are really curious with the blancs.
    4.varied landscape...
5.I could go on and on.
    Go there!!

  15. Thialand,Philippines Added by: dan hayes (pbr0@mailexcite.com)

I spent about 1.5 years in Bali,Indonesia, and 3 years total
in Thailand and maybe 6 in Philippines. If you want best
english speaking I would recommend Angeles or BAgio(not sure
of spelling) in Philippines. Ofcourse you can stay in Manila
but it is more expensive. I had a air conditioned room for
$2-5 us in a hotel - it was the Far Eastern hotel in Angeles
about 9 years ago. I have heard that it is now closed but
other good deals abound. Baguio is much cooler but less
night life. It depends on what you want. The main point is
Asia in general is so much cheaper than the CAribbean.
Thailand is best all around - but English is not too good.
If you go there I recommend Chaing Mai - Bangkok is just too
noisy and hot - also more expensive than Chiang Mai. I had
a nice room there for around $5 per day - no tv or a/c
though - but depending on time of year you don't really need
a/c in Chiang Mai. Worst thing about Philippines is the
blatant con- artist. Never get talked into a card game as I
made the mistake. Never beleive or trust anyone you meet on
the street and never do any business there - keep all your
    money out of the country.
