Do you have to ask? Please, the Caribbean is the only
place in this universe where beaches are truly
paradisiacal...the rest of the world is merely swamps
do not have Australian box jellyfish in the water which will
scar you for life.
do not have poisonous sea snakes in the water like
in Australia.
do not have shark attacks.
do not have people playing crap music on boom boxes nearby.
do not have dangerous undertows that take you away and drown
you.
...can offer one thing that a Caribbean beach cannot.
Solitude. It is very difficult to walk alone on a Carribean
beach. I think Austrlaia wins this contest because it has
so much coastline. Box-jellyfish, sharks etc are not a
persistent factor in Australia. Most Australians who live
by the sea have only seen sharks in the museum. Unless
theey like to dive. Then again the Great barrier Reef
outshines those piddly little bits of coral in the West
Indies!!
Sorry JohnJohn!
If you believe there are no poisonous sea snakes in the Carribean, stay away from Florida real estate salesmen.
You are right about the solitude in Oz. Fewer people per
square mile cannot be argued. You know that I am biased.;~)
Well of course I am biased but I have been to both, and if peace and serenity is what you are after the Aussie beaches cannot be beaten. No one is going to walk up while your napping or really getting into that bokk and hassle the crap out of you to buy a necklace, paw paw, sarong, coke, hash, speed, charlie or any other bloody thing.
Don't forget that as well as the fantastic mainland beaches, (I haven't even been to WA where you can go 100km and see no one) we also have idylic palm fringed islands - get your own boat and head to the Whitsundays in Qld where you can easily get away from the tourist crowds and be the only ones moored in a secluded hideway.
Oz wins hands down.
