Greetings All
Heading off to Barbados in June for the usual 2 weeks (plus
brothers wedding!). LP Eastern Carribean lists a place in
Bridgetown called Angle House (Upper Bay St) for $12.50 USD
a night. I'm wondering if anyone can comment on this
particular place? Good, bad, don't even think of going
there??? The price sounds good, but then again... too good
to be true?
And/or can anyone recommend any inexpensive places to stay
on the south or west coasts? I'm not looking for full-on
hotels with pools etc, just somewhere safe and clean to
sleep. Places with other backpackers would be cool.
What about good places to party? Any clubs i would be mad to
miss? And are there any particular places
backpackers hang-out at?
And lastly, i'm thinking of island hoping to at least one
other island... anyone done this recently? Problems? Costs?
Where should i go? Fly? Ferry boat?
Basically i'm looking for all the info i can possibly find.
And it's cool to mail me off list if you like.
Thanks a lot
Druid

There is another guesthouse next to the above mentioned in
the similar price range.(safe, clean)
Barbados ,one of my favorite destinations, but pretty
pricey these days with all the development. I agree with
the previous posting...the South Coast has several B'nB's
and guest houses. Definitely not Bay Street!!! West Coast
Highway has a really nice Youth Hostel in an unlikely but
lovely site...the former leper colony! Magnificent gardens
and close to public transportation. Do try the yellow
buses and ZR vans..no matter what others tell you. I am a
middle-aged woman and I found Barbados safe, clean, and
welcoming so I have been there repeatedly..last time for 4
months.
Island hopping isn't easy or cheap. Consider the weekend
overnighter to St Lucia. Have fun....say "hello" to my
ocean!!

Be sure to check out the St. Lawrence Gap, if you are in
Bridgetown. There are 2 or 3 great clubs there, with good
music. Have a great time. RG
