Pueto Vallarta - tell me about it?

Any info on PV - weather through to what the atmosphere is
really like - please let me know!

   Very commercial! Lots of resorts and tourists out for a
   party.

   To me Puerto Vallarta is:
   North American TV culture saranwrapped around a tropical
   local.
   A watering hole for those who don't really want to go to
   Mexico.
   A nice place for cruise ships to deposit their well padded
   (in wallet and size) cargo for temporary harbor.
   A more expensive locale in which to buy mexican trinkets.
   More expensive than Canada that is!

   very commercial. A gay hangout if your that way inclined.
   You can do it relatively cheap, but most of the best beach
   is tied up with luxury hotels. The beach downtown has an
   open sewer flowing into it, making it unsafe to swim. A
   timeshare salesman on every corner. There are better places
   in mexico.
