Diving in Paradise

Hi!
Hoping to spend a week hanging out in a cabana on some
remote beach (although not so remote that we can't find a
restaurant or other amenity, if the urge strikes). The
other criterion is that it needs to be fairly close to a
good diving school (we'd like to learn and get our
certification), and incredible dive sites.
Any ideas? Thanks!
Adam

Try Roatan..one of the Bay Islands of Honduras. Heading there
    myself in a few weeks.

Roatan and Utila are crowded with divers and schools and
the coral shows the damage. Why don't you try Boca del
Toro in Panama. Not nearly so many people but good diving
and you can get a cheap, clean bed and good food.

I agree with Jane. Bocas del Toro is still semi-
undiscovered, very laid back, safe to walk around at
midnight, has some fun night spots, and you can find cheap
accomdations a few street back from the water.
You bus to Almirante, Panama, then take a US$3 boat ride to
Bocas. If you're flush with cash, the island (Isla Colon)
    has it's own airport.
The dive shops are right on the waterfront.

  4. Sounds like Belize... Added by: Fade-on (ehscdc@teleport.com)

Belize sounds like a place you might like. Second longest
coral reef in the world, great beaches, definitely not
crowded. Need more info just e-mail.
