Am I dreaming, or did I see somewhere that it is possible
to get serious discounts with a student card at some bus
companies in Mexico? Confirmation of my fantasy would be
much appreciated. And what have been the best student deals
for you in Central America??

  1. Buses are cheap Added by: joe

Buses are very cheap in Mexico, at least in the Yucatan. For
example, I paid 32 NP(New Pesos) ($5 US at the time) for a
first class bus from Cancun to Chichen Itza. A second class
bus (de paso)from Chichen to Merida was only 15 NP. A bus
from Merida to Uxmal was 8.5 NP. You can travel by bus very
    inexpensively without any discount.

bus companies have a limited number of seats on each bus to
sell to students at discounted prices, those seats are
available during school vacations in Mexico, spring break
and sometimes long weekends, but I think only during those
periods.......hmmmmm don┤t know if they only accept mexican
student cards or the ISIC also.

When I was in Mexico last month there were a number of huge
discounts for students and teachers. This seemed to range
from bus company to bus company and I'm not sure if there
were any deals on airfare. Some bus companies offered
nothing while others had 50% for primera clase.

Bus discounts on major bus companies are only for students
and teachers with a valid ID from a Mexican institution. I
have not found many places in Mex or CA that honor foreign
student cards. But mostly stuff is pretty cheap anyway.
