We are looking to do a RtR holiday in Mexico in November.We
have been there numerous time and have visited several
beaches on both coasts. We are travelling from Western
Canada and there will be flights to Cancun at that time
directly from our city. We have been to Cancun(very
briefly) and really want to have a more low key
destination...but not totally isolated. We have heard Playa
Del Carmen may be the place we are looking for.Do any of
you have any suggestions as to a nice place...not too low
budget ...but something homey and comfy for several weeks?
Or perhaps there is another place someone can recommend on
that coast..travelling distance from the Cancun airport.
What are your recommendations?

You cannot go wrong in Playa Del. It is a wonderful little
town with lots of cafes, live bands etc. It is not a zoo
like cancun. Very nice beaches, go to Yalku Lagoon if you
can.
Playa comes to life at nights, very safe, friendly locals
and tourist, try to see some of the sites, well worth it.

This is our second trip. We are planning to stay in Playa del Carmen.
There is as web-site called kuartos.com. They provide listings of inclusive to small hotels.
We have been to Playa del Carmen and we loved the environment.
If you get a chance do a overnight trip to Valladolid. Stay at the El Meson del Marques . Calle 39 No 203 Tel6-20-73.. It is a lovely hotel with an old world sense. And it is inexpensive. We paid about $32.00 .
Merida is also an exciting place to visit.

We are going back to Playa for the 5th time in June and I
never thought I'd go anywhere twice! Very cool place,
beautiful beaches, great friendly, safe town; don't miss
swimming with dolphins @ Xcaret (kinda pricey but a life
experience), must swim in cenotes--just ask--and Limones is
a fabulous restaurant! We are 45 year old world
travellers, celebrating our 2nd marriage and bringing 16
people this time; aunts, uncles, kids, grandkids...See
