Best beach in Costa Rica????

My friend and I are leaving for CR on April 15th. Our travel agent booked us an itinerary starting in San Jose, moving on to Arenal and Monteverde, and then ending up in Tamarindo at the Tamarindo Diria Hotel for 3 nights. If we are renting a car, is this itinerary manageable for a 10 day trip? Also, is Tamarindo the best choice for a beach in CR? The travel agent said it would be his choice for 20-30 aged vacationers. A friend said we should not miss Manuel Antonio, even if we are there for only 1 night. I've also heard things about Montezuma. Would our itinerary allow us to visit a couple of different beaches, or should we stick with one for a few days? We're single women in our mid-late 20's.. I'd like a beautiful beach that attracts vacationers around our age, possibly with a little bit of a night life - restaurants, etc. I also would like to go snorkeling and horseback riding. Any ideas?

    traceh,
with only 10 days of time it will be very difficult to add
anything else to your itinerary. although C.R is a small
country it takes plenty of time to drive twisting,
winding, and sometimes pothole ridden roads. Definately
    check out Montezuma. waterfalls,horsebackriding,nice
beaches are in the area. The restuarants are good and you
will find plenty of people your age. good luck and have fun

I agree with what Michael said above. We were in CR for 4 days and went to Arenal and then back to San Jose via Monte Verde. The roads in many places are horrible (make sure you rent an SUV!) and it can take hours to go short distances. Stick with what you've got and enjoy. The Arenal region is beautiful. If you go around the lake - the Rock River Lodge is a great place to stay. Not the cheapest and primarily an American hang out, but the location was beautiful, the food was great and Norm the owner is a great source of information, plus the beer's cheap.

    Hi, there-
I was in CR last year at about the same time..if you're into
horseback riding may I suggest the trip from St. Elena to
Monteverde (or vice versa). The trip took several hours, was
$75US, and was wonderful. It was so quiet and peaceful and
    breathtakingly beautiful.
    Cheers

I would defintely suggest Monteverde--the cloud forest there
is astounding. I wasn't all that impressed with Manuel
Antonio however; if you do go, be very careful of the rip
tides; I had some friends get pulled out by one.

I would add Manuel Antonio to my itinerary. What Rose says
is true for some of the MA beaches, but not the third beach
called Manuel Antonio--it is calm there.
