I plan on travelling down the west coast of mexico, into
guatemala, belize, and back up along the east coast. I'm
flying into Puerta vallarta because it's very cheap airfare
from denver, but are there any cheap places to stay, like
campgrounds? Any info about that, or advice for the entire
trip would be much appreciated.
Brian

Yelapa is great for a remote area to camp and very
liberal. Best to take the bus south to Boca and then get
on one of the panga "taxis" that head out there...it will
take about 45 minutes and is scenic but rough if windy. If
you want to explore PV you might spend some nights closer
in as the cost and time to go back and forth is a bit.
North of PV at La Cruz de Huxcastle (sp?) is a campground
on the beach for 100 pesos a night with hot showers...its
great or if your budget is less, walk the beach south of
there about 100 yards and you can camp in a few places but
without security if thats important to you. Best beach
area for water stuff other than surfing in the whole area
and its about a 45 minute bus ride to downtown PV. Enjoy!!!
