WE are a couple off on looking for adventure in Guatemala.
If anyone has any handy hints about language courses in
Antigua, cheap flights from the UK, or travelling down
across land from Mexico City, please let us know. WE are
also keen to hear about good climbing spots and scuba
diving sites in CA.
Any advice would be handy
Cheers

Try this web site:http://www.theantiguajournal.com/. Best way
to get a school is to show up. Ask around with other students
at some of the local gringo hangouts such as Jazz Gruta or
Rainbow. See if you can't sit in on a class. Teachers make
the schools and staff turnover seems to be common. A place
that was great a year ago may have lost its best teachers.
You sign up a week at atime with classes beginning weekly so
you can start when ready. The route from Mexico City via
Oaxaca and San Cristobal de las Casas to Huehuetenango is a
good road. Email if interested in things to do in Oaxaca and
San Critobal. Sorry but not sure about flights from UK.

    Good advice from Bob.
I have a list of Spanish Schools in Antigua and around
Guatemala that have internet access, as well as a list of
diving places in Utila and Roatan with internet access.
I have the bus route mentioned above as well.

  3. A less expensive option Added by: chato

I understand that you can fly from UK to Cancun for a
reduced fare. If so you can bus to Belize and Guatemala for
    very little.

  4. Take a look at Xela Added by: Tom L. (tom@xelapages.com)

Please take a look at Quetzaltenango for your study needs.
Located in the Western Highlands of Guatemala Xela offers a
"real" look into the lives of the typical Guatemalan.
Xela is not as pretty as Antigua but if you are looking for
the true flavor of Guatemalan life Xela is the spot!!

    Happy travels.
