Does anyone know of instrument makers in mexico or central America. I would like to purchase an inexpensive, preferably handmade guitar sometime while traveling.

Paracho in Michoacan is supposed to have the best guitar
makers in Mexico.
just curious what prices migh be like and if bargaining would be expected. Thanks.
Been to Paracho with a pal who bought a guitar there.
Little shops line the main street. Like the US, you can
spend as much or as little as you want--I think his guitar
and case were about $50 total. Even got a picture of
him and the guitar maker. BUT, I'm fairly certain Mr.
Guitarmaker used green wood, 'cause the fingerboard pulled
away from the instrument within a couple of years. Learn
how to ask about unseasoned wood in Spanish and remember you
get what you pay for.

really wasn't a quality instrument. My advice: learn
